Google Search alternatives any better?

After viewing the video below about Youtube censoring or blacklisting certain terms, I did a search for "federal reserve" on all possible viable alternative search engines and they all seem to confirm what James Corbett said.

Hence the question: "are there any real, impartial, privacy respecting alternatives to Google Search?"

Gave up a long time ago on Google Search for the very reason(s) you mentioned. Instead, I've been using DuckDuckGo for quite a few years now and love it. Never have had a problem finding anything.

Following the viewing of the video, i searched with other know engines such as DDG, StartPage, Qwant, Searx and the "federal reserve" by J. Corbett never showed in the first results as it once did in Google Youtube.
Hence, the question: are all the others bought out too?

Interesting read bjm_ - anyone else can confirm Soros sending funds to DuckDuckGo?

This source doesnt have credibility to "talk" about technology, it is a politic website and just that.

The talk about tracking cookies and Google is pretty ridiculous, but to each his own.

Yeah, the whole article look like an advertisement for Yippy.
Yeah, it's baseless to imagine DuckDuckGo collects and sells data acquired from users.

Well, at least it served to introduce Yippy to me.
    Never heard of it before.

The other part of the initial thread here is with regards to CorbettReport.com and search results for "Federal Reserve" on Google no longer showing the documentary by Corbett as one of the top 10 or so.
Now, i've searched many of the other privacy oriented engines here recommended, and none basically list it in the top 10 either.
Is Corbett in panic mode for no reason or have all search engines used manipulative means to brush him off?

If you're entering just Federal Reserve as your search phrase, I don't see why Corbett's video or site should figure in the top 10 in any search engine which isn't restricted to searching YouTube.

On the other hand, if I search for Federal Reserve Corbett in YouTube itself the video is the third listed.

Startpage is the default on most of my browsers. I've been using it for years.

I also mostly use Startpage but sometimes still go to Google if results on Startpage are not what I'm looking for. But that happens rarely.

Yeah, I sometimes do the same.

Although Startpage and Google results should be the same, more or less.

Our relationship with Google is simple and straightforward: We are a separate company from Google, and we do not share your personal data with them.

Startpage acts as an intermediary between you and Google, so your searches are completely private. Startpage submits your query to Google anonymously, then returns Google results to you privately. Google never sees you and does not know who made the request; they only see Startpage.

Since Google never sees your IP address or interacts with your web browser, you do not receive tracking cookies from Google. What's more, since Google can't determine your interests based on your past search history, you receive standard search results rather than Google's "personalised" results.

Yes they should be the same but in practice they are not always. I guess that Google can sometimes give you more relevant results if it knows your IP address or location.

What a sheltered internet life I must lead... I never knew about Startpage until reading your post. It sure looks good. TY! :thumb:

It used to be called Ixquick. I believe it's used more in Europe than the US.

I've tried DuckDuckGo, and search results weren't that good. Google Search is still the best.

For everyday use, I like https://searx.info/ which uses Bing and DDG as its sources. I used to use Startpage for its image search, but DDG has lately excelled in that area.
