    Hi All

I want to do some testing of this product. Elisha was kind enough to provide test keys and also had a talk with me which to rest any concerns I had.

With my setup I am not sure I need it but it looks very interesting so I want to test it.

I've installed first in a VM. It's a win 7 VM and has a lot of my software installed. The install was very smooth. I've set up my Account with them, and so far so good.

    Stay tuned.

    Pete

    Hi hawki

You are correct, but that was a general thread. I wanted to start a new specific to Neushield

    Hello Peter :)

Yes, I understand, but I thought a newcomer to our NeuShield discussion might otherwise miss-out on and would benefit from the info in the general thread which is likely to get buried over time.

In any event, feel free to delete my post if you think its inappropriate/confusing.

    No Problelm

Update: My first results are a bit confusing to me. I have contacted Elisha, and before posting I will give him the courtesy of waiting for his reply. It could be me.

    Hey Pete,

Is this a new ransomware blocker? If so I may be interested. :)

I think it's not so much a blocker, but rather a simple means of preserving and quickly recovering data/files/programs that have been encrypted/wiped by ransomware or other nefarious method.

Has nothing to do with ransomware blocking per se. It's a file recover utility that allow you to in essence roll back file status to a prior period of time. In the case of a ransomware attack, this would be to a time prior to when the attack occurred.

What will make or break this product is ransomware ability to detect and disable it.

Does programs like this rely on system restore? Or does it have it's own "restore" option?

Yes it does. I am ironing out the problem I had with mirroring, but the One Click Restore does inolve System Restore. Not for me

sounds like the ransomware protection from acronis. but who really need this? isnt daily backup for important files essential/vital? is an Independent backup solution more recommended that windows system restore*? (*which will become deprecated because it is not stable and reliable enough!)

I quite agree. Also found out how to deal with my mirroring problem and will test and report back

    Interesting.

A dedicated Ransomware product IMO say similar to a (RansomOff) would or should be equipped with formidable up front defenses to meet and take the ransomware on directly thru instant detection and combat in a heads up confrontation once a drop in is been made by the bad actor riding in on the bandwidth.

You might think it of choice in confidence and safety to apply a backup image on any AFTER THE FACT hit from ransomware, again just IMHO

The mirroring actually works like they advertise. Kinda cool. The one click restore is a total waste as it's nothing by system restore.

It is what i was asking. But seems a bit different since it writes on the partitions instead of creating a hidden one.

if that's the case, it's better. because the hidden partition and mbr modification are what make rx prone to cause isses.

Nothing at all like Rollback. I think it does protect the mbr as does other software The mirroring was very benign and fine with regular imaging

So @Peter2150 does it revert system crashes, data corruptions/deletions and other drivers/files/programs installed?
