    it just ate memory
if they want they can secure single process too
but about stability i think not
    it should be user choice

Of course, it ate memory, to perform better, memory is made to be used, application use available memory to some extent so more free memory you have, better it is when used.
And now most computers have at least 4 to 6gb minimum.
Memory saving/optimization is a thing of the past.

I did see you can apparently put tabs on bottom, but is this near the Windows Taskbar or what? So far, only Vivaldi can put the tab-bar on bottom.

Tabs can be on left, right, or top -- not on the bottom. Who would want tabs on their bottom, I wonder?

@IvoShoen -- If you want to go over to the Dark Side, get Dark Theme for Chrome -- works grrreat!

@ everyone -- Kinza is now my default. It's the lightest, fastest, most stable browser I have found. YMMV. :-*

@ anyone -- Does anyone know how to get Kinza to open a new tab (CTRL t) to the homepage? Right now, in response to CTRL t, Kinza opens to a search page. I need it to open to my homepage. Is there a way?

@bellgamin 's right on this one. tabs can be positioned on top, leftside and rightside.

    excellent. :thumb:

you need an extension for that. you may take a look at these two options:

    for homepage:
    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/new-tab-redirect/icpgjfneehieebagbmdbhnlpiopdcmna?hl=en-US

    for a blank ntp:

Had a look at this (as I do most other browsers :D)
For me personally it didn't offer much more than other Chrome forks do.
I ran it Sandboxied while in Shadow Defender with UBlock Origin and it didn't complain.

What a bummer. So Vivaldi remains the only browser that offers this function. To me, tabs should be in the bottom of the screen, just above the Windows taskbar. I don't know why all of these idiotic browser developers refuse to give this option. It's even not possible anymore in Firefox.

Same over here. Honestly, if people like browsers like Edge, Opera, Kinza and Brave, they are going to love Vivaldi.

I base my browser selection mainly on 4 factors. Here are the first 3:
    (1) can it handle up to 17-20 open tabs without overloading the memory of my outdated laptop?
    (2) How zippy at handling Java Script is it when rated by actual TEST?
    (3) How zippy does it feel? (subjectively, of course)

Right now, Slimjet has surpassed Kinza, Google, Iron, Iridium, Bravo, & Firefox on my laptop, at my geographic location, with my connection. YMMV

I haven't yet tried Vivaldi or Opera.

imo, vivaldi and opera would give very similar results as with iron, had you tried it on your laptop.

Browsers can be such a personal thing can't they? I mean they are a bit like a house online that we spend time in and so we end up customizing it to suit ourselves. Which is probably why a browser which suits one user doesn't suit another. So you are right to search for a browser that feels comfortable to you and suits your needs.
I spent 6 months a few years ago with Sleipnir as my default, really liked it, then something changed either in the browser or my setup and it started running slow. I switched to the old presto Opera then (my all time favourite :thumb:)
As events moved on with Opera, I searched like you are doing and went with Vivaldi. It suits my needs at the moment.
    Keep posting your findings Bellgamin.

@stapp -- I wish I could find a minimalist browser (as was K-meleon) that is secure & well maintained (unlike K-meleon). I shall have a go at Vivaldi soon.

@guest -- By "ChromEdge" I suppose you mean Microsoft's update to Edge using the blink engine. I found download sites that offered "Developer" & "Canary" versions. Huh?!! So I downloaded MicrosoftEdgeSetupDev.exe. Is that the one. If not, do you have a download link?

Seems this one, dev build found in Edge Insider page, (I don't have my computer under my hand).
Once running, the process should be msedge.exe.

Did you use the 32bit download for Slimjet or the 64bit one?

@stapp -- No, not 64bit. I just checked --I'm using the Slimjet 32bit. Their site says the 64bit version is heavier on memory.

@guest -- okay, I got the developer version. Will give it a go tomorrow or the next day.

I gave SlimJet a whirl last night in Shadow Defender and was pleasantly surprised. Once I had done all the settings to my liking browsing was indeed quite fast. The builtin ad blocker works well.
It is certainly one of the better browsers I've tried.

When I open about 50 tabs, Vivaldi will use about 4.5GB of RAM. It also depends on how heavy the website is of course. Vivaldi is quite snappy, but you do have to restart it let's say every 8 hours, because it will start to get slower and slower. Not to forget, Vivaldi has got a very handy bookmarks-manager, not found in other Chromium based browsers.

I have quickly checked it out, and it does have some unique features and runs just fine with Sandboxie. But no way to put tabs on bottom. Also, trust plays a role, I always have a feeling that these kind of browsers may not be that privacy friendly.
