Tried this - it's just a port of chromium with some bare bones extra features. So far, I didn't see anything that didistinguishes kinza from chrome. But they do have some interesting options in the settings. The developers say the product will evolve as per user feedback, so it might be worthwhile keeping this browser around. But overall - Meh, new day, new chromium port.
Japan already has Sleipnir, which is actually somewhat of a more significant Chromium fork compared to Kinza. I don't really know where Kinza stands IMHO.
Yeah, I'll believe that they can make this more secure than Chrome when I see it. Every fork claims to be super secure, none of them live up to it.
@imdb - thanks for calling this browser to attention. I like it! Installed it then added uBlockOrigin, Emsisoft Browser Security, & "I don't care about cookies". She's sailing straight and true with a following wind. Yar! @Firecat In what ways is Sleipnir a more significant Chromium fork than Kinza? Just curious.
@bellgamin , you don't need a separate extension, "I don't care about cookies". You can just add that filter into uBO. Search here - https://filterlists.com/
It's really quite easy. Once you've found the list, "I don't care about cookies", click "Details" > "Subscribe". You should see a window asking to approve. Give it a little while and soon the list will be included into uBO. Done!
@bellgamin no problem, sir. @bellgamin @Krusty you don't need "idcac" list, ubo already has "fanboy's cookie list (aka cookie monster)" for that under "annoyances" section. but it is disabled as default. you need to enable it.
kinza has extra cool settings that is not offered with chrome (requiring manual modification for some of those settings) such as always launch browser in incognito mode, tab shape, tab position, confirm before closing multiple tabs, tab restore button, customizable sidebar (position, etc.), changing cache folder location, auto-clear browsing history on exit, etc.
I noticed a couple of things. I have to force it into dark mode and I am unable to sign in to my Google account.
hi, ivo. if your default app mode for windows is dark, then chromium based browsers automatically switch to dark mode. if you don't want that, you should disable it via windows' settings app. odd that you can't sign in to your google account, never encountered that.
It should switch to dark mode to match my Windows settings but won't. Also, there are no flags to set it that way either. That's why I append the shortcut command with --force-dark-mode. As for not being able to sign in to Google, that's a deal breaker for me.
Thanks I may check this out. Been going a bit crazy lately with testing different browsers. I ditched Chrome awhile back cos Google.
Hey Trooper, Another option = https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/brave-browser-pay-for-privacy.388288/
no problem, co. but why would you want single process? i mean, multi-process is better for security and stability.
