    It should not have nay signifcant effect on the life of your SSD if you use a cache or not. In either case, your SSD should last for many years.

    current is v71 - so any beyond is vulnerable in special that old.
    regarding security absolute NO-GO and not discussible.

    I tried it now and earlier because it offers quite new version of Chrome for Vista...unfortunately I always have an error alert so I can't even open it. I don't know how to fix it :thumbd:

    Hopefully I haven't missed something somewhere along the way. My user.js file contains about 400 prefs. Use at your own risk:

    Code:
    user_pref("alerts.showFavicons", false);
    user_pref("browser.cache.disk.capacity", 0);
    user_pref("browser.cache.disk.enable", false);
    user_pref("browser.cache.disk.smart_size.enabled", false);
    user_pref("browser.cache.disk.smart_size.first_run", false);
    user_pref("browser.cache.disk_cache_ssl", false);
    user_pref("browser.cache.memory.capacity", 0);
    user_pref("browser.cache.memory.enable", false);
    user_pref("browser.cache.offline.enable", false);
    user_pref("browser.cache.offline.insecure.enable", false);
    user_pref("browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers", 0);
    user_pref("browser.sessionstore.interval", 60000);
    user_pref("browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo", 0);
    user_pref("browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo", 0);
    user_pref("browser.sessionstore.privacy_level", 2);
    user_pref("browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash", false);
    user_pref("browser.shell.shortcutFavicons", false);
    user_pref("dom.caches.enabled", false);
    user_pref("offline-apps.allow_by_default", false);
    user_pref("permissions.memory_only", true);
    user_pref("toolkit.winRegisterApplicationRestart", false);

    LOL, maybe you can run it with Sandboxie and block access to important folders. But never heard of it before, I'm not into bare bones browsers anyway.

    The Classic Browser v4.5 (March 21, 2019)
    Website
    https://theclassictools.com/Changes.txt

    The Classic Browser v4.5 is now available for download!
    -------------------------------------------------------

    * Expose hidden form fields - R-click on the "Session History Menu" icon.
    * Word Filtering function improvements
    * Cookie/Privacy banner (GDPR) removal improvements
    * System Information extended.
    * Auto-update your menu favorites... right-click on any menu entry and select "Update this item" to retrieve the latest page title and URL.
    * Favorites importing improved.
    * Two new powerful features in this version are "Multi-Bookmark" and "Multi-Link" which you’ll find under... Main Menu > Browser Functions.
    The first creates a new bookmark group of all currently opened Internet tabs, while the second creates a single multi-link that can fire up all currently opened Internet tabs.
    * Export any of your Classic bookmark menus as a HTML file saved to the dektop. Look for the "Export" button at the very top.
    * Fixed the bug which made the Youtube extra functionality arrows display when in full screen video mode. Now they should disappear when you go full screen.
    * Numerous unspecified improvements/optimizations in this version.
    * Comes with embedded Classic apps... Virtual Solar Systems v1.0 and Menu for KIDS!

    What to expect in the Classic Browser v4.6
    -------------------------------------------

    * Introducing HTML5 desktop Apps with disk I/O and system access! Read/write to files, get full file paths, call Windows utilities, get system info, and more! Another first for the Classic!

    * Sandboxed tabs will now have a red border so they stand out.

    * Improved the extraction of website resources.

    * Updated all search engines (a huge job but very necessary)

    * Two new options are now available when you right-click on menu favorites; “Open in Kiosk mode” and “Open in Popup mode”.

    * Numerous unspecified improvements/optimizations in this version.

    * The embedded app "Virtual Solar Systems" has gone to v2.0 as it now comes with 8 sound tracks, comets, customizing options settings, and better logic. (<--love this, good fun!)

    * More work on Youtube video URLs in progress...

    It says 4.6, not 4.5, on the homesite.

    It also says - not recommended. What to do i wonder?

    That would be because 4.6 is an old version, with 4.8 being the current one.
