- New version of OEC PRO available. The updates are now coming at a rapid pace (as expected). [+] [2019-07-16] Compact All now also compacts all DB files (Folders, AddressBook, Identity, Newsgroups) [+] [2019-07-17] IMAP support (public alpha 4 release) - IMAP support is already in its 4th "public alpha release". - I do get the impression that the developers of OEC - now with IMAP in an alpha release - are taking the opportunity to improve other parts of the program code as well. It seems that the developers now have more time to implement suggestions they received and are fixing other (non IMAP related) bugs. I was pleasantly surprised to see that one of the bugs I reported in the last say 3 months has been fixed in a recent update of OEC PRO.
Thanks @Buddel. Do you know which problem from the 2019-07-14 release was fixed? Just being curious because I noticed that the following line in the ReadMe from the 2019-07-14 release is disappeared from the one from 17 July 2019: [+] [2019-07-11] Improved support for Dual Monitor/High DPI when moving windows between 2 monitors in different resolutions or DPI I was asking myself why that line is no longer there.
I didn't update to that release, so I don't know what the problem was. Sorry. Whatever it was, it is supposed to be fixed now.
OK. I was curious about why that line about Dual Monitor/High DPI from the previous ReadMe is missing in the last one. Could be related to that supposed to be fixed problem, could be a "slip-of-the-pen", or whatever. (PS: I don't have Dual Monitors)
Thanks @Buddel and @Willy2 Please keep those of us who don't use Facebook, informed about that missing line regarding Dual Monitor, in case you guys may know more about it. Thanks guys!
- I could I magine that support for "Dual Monitors" and "IMAP" are going to be the main subject of the "Major Announcement" (See Facebook). But I don't have any insider knowledge. It remains pure speculation what's going to be announced.
I also think that this "major announcement" will have something to do with IMAP support, but it's also pure speculation on my side. Anyway, I'm sure we will soon find out.
PS: In the new ReadMe ( version 2019-07-18 ), that line about Dual Monitor/High DPI is also missing. Looks like it was on purpose removed ...
- There is a distinct possibility that the/a next OEC version (v3.0, v3.1, ..... ) won't support Windows XP system anymore. OEC's Facebookpage (july 21, 2019) does clearly indicate that support for Windows XP is coming to an end (rather sooner than later).
- Correction: Future versions of OEC (v3.0 and newer) will not be developed for Windows XP anymore because XP is simply too old. Any future version of OEC still COULD work on a XP system but the developers don't give any guarantees that it WILL work (flawlessly) on a XP system.
OE Classic 3.0 Pro updated New features: [2019-08-06] Improved localization files - Greek, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil) [2019-08-07] New localization files - Russian, Serbian (Latin) [2019-08-15] IMAP support (public alpha 6 release) Info: https://www.oeclassic.com/news Download: https://www.oeclassic.com/download or via internal updater as mentioned below Just taken from Facebook:
- Another new version of OEC available today. [2019-08-16] IMAP support (public alpha 7 release) (As predicted in a previous post the new updates are now coming at a rapid pace)
- I am trying to let OEC connect with my Gmail account (IMAP !!!) and collect/download my email from there but to no avail. Tried to change the IMAP related settings (in OEC) but - at least - one IMAP menu is still greyed out. Can't change any setting. Even POPMAN isn't able to connect with GMail. Odd, very odd.
A new beta version was released on 23 August 2019. Changelog hasn't been changed .... So, I guess it has to do with language improvement ...
- New version of OEC PRO available today. Improved language support (again). Hint: Compare the size of the language files of this version with previous versions. - Facebook tells us that there will be an anouncement in a few days from OEC. What will they announce ? - Support for IMAP in v3.0 ? The developers emailed me that support for IMAP requires A LOT OF changes in the program code. Don't know if they are done yet. - Will there be (major) changes related to OEC's support of Windows XP in version v3.0 ? 1) MS stopped support for XP in 2014. 2) There was a discussion on the topic "Support for XP" on OEC's Facebook page. I have sent the developers (by email) some suggestions on how to ditch support for Windows XP in a next OEC version as well.
