Money punishment isn't enough. They should put Zuckerberg in prison.

Keep dreaming... He has enough "power" and is smart enough to avoid direct responsibility.

Should the FTC jail Mark Zuckerberg instead of fining Facebook?

You can't put a CEO in jail because his company collect datas, the "crime" can't be compared with murderers, bankrobbers, housebreakers, rapists, carjackers, etc... If you do so, then be ready to put in jail 80% of CEOs doing worse like shady financial practices, workers' rights abuses, corruption, etc...

As usual, this is another ridiculous idea coming from haters and jealous people. Like I said before, where were those people when facebook was starting...

With such reckless disregard for privacy, and the insatiable desire to carry on sucking billions out of those he's made foolish and blind, he sure deserves something. Prison might be too nice.

I agree that there should be personal liability and personal punishment for such incidents. If only company pays few billions nothing will change. When people get personally responsible than there is at least a little chance that something might change.

And what's not good about doing that ? Long overdue ! If more people like that had already been put in jail for those & similar things starting years ago, there would have been, & would be, less shady practices etc going on. Because they would have known they would go to jail when found out, and so they should

    They just won't stop !

It's time to stop messing about with warnings & fines, they just laugh at them behind the scenes. The top people need to be removed permanently, & jailed.

Put the CEOs of 80% of the companies in jail, companies will loose leadership, stocks will crash, then board members will compensate by reducing costs, and who will be the first to pay the bill? Workers as usual, stagnating salaries at best, mass firing at worse...

And even you miraculously manage to put them in jail, what prison ? They will end in 5 star hotels with gps ankle locks.
    Lol.

Powerful people have huge resources, they can hire the best lawyers who will surely find loopholes or reduce the sentences to few months.

And I don't even talk about the legitimacy of jailing people for non-violent crimes. ... And for what reason? Datas collection? Loooool

There is not enough prisons for violent criminals and you want put CEOs in jail...
    Please come back to earth.

Facebook was granted a patent to silo group posts
It’s unclear exactly how the social media giant plans on using it

@guest -so in your scheme you'd let the **** get off scott free. Notwithstanding you may have very well described the tipping point, but it remains, your scenario is going to get us where?

@Reality (I use "you" in the general way)
1- the **** get free because your laws, made by people you elected are sloppy. Under the banner of ultra law-protected democracy and freedom you allow by default all kind of abuses.
2- in this scenario, the mass will always lose because the point above.

I'm amused by all those tech giant "keyboard warriors" type bashers spilling their morality onto others while at the same time won't move a finger to prevent distribution of guns by weapons manufacturers, roots of dozen of mass massacres; or fascist/racist groups/militias to spread hate and bombing buildings, etc... Etc... Etc...
But Facebook and Google collecting datas, what an aberration !!! Jail them all!!!
    Idiocy at the topmost level.
Most abusing megacorps were allowed to become the monsters they are now, who make them grow? The masses, they used them when needed or trendy and now that they get bitten back , they babycry. Come on...

You want change things, do it from inside, stop whinning.

No whining or idiocy here guest, just stating facts and the fact is Zuckerberg fosters all the things you have just so succinctly pointed out and accusing us of, and who operates by the same inactivity you are also accusing us of.

As for morality - but arn't you crying out for good morals wanting to protect what is yours? People who hate morality are the first to moan when the consequences of zero morality hits them. Can I say Come on...? Here's another thing if you can see it for what it is - it won't do good to blame the majority or the minority, for in both cases there's people who act with the utmost integrity.

My point is if people are passive when things started, those same people has no right to blame the end result.

Basically, to stay on topic, if you were passive when FB did its stuff, don't come and complain now about it.

Well everyone can change for the better and learn about FB and ditch it. Only, thats not me. Look anywhere on this forum and tell me when I ever said a good word about FB. On the contrary both here and in real life I have no problem telling people how Zuckerberg is one of the worst tools ever.
