After a major kerfuffle going from Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.1029) to Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803), yesterday afternoon, I lost this functionality: "Windows 10: The Settings app does not open or flashes and closes instantaneously" - https://www.dell.com/support/articl...or-flashes-and-closes-instantaneously?lang=en However with a lot of faffing about trying various suggested remedies, I managed to regain the functionality, many hours later. Luckily, following a reboot it offered that there was an update, and lo and behold at completion as per the following, it was back: Now, there are more updates that I need a restart to do, before they take effect. But, I would like to make a fresh Macrium Reflect backup, but I haven't a clue as to what I need to do as per the following screenshot.
These are the further updates, pending. But, I don't want to risk more problems installing, until I get a new Macrium Reflect image done. I hope someone can offer advice as to how best to handle this situation.
Interestingly, a whole slew of updates went thru while I was sleeping, and which didn't need a restart to take effect:
Tarnak, Make an Entire Drive backup as per your screen shot. This will include the 4 partitions and the Primary GPT table.
Hi Brian, Thanks, for replying to my post. It has been more than 2 years since we last communicated. Luckily, I have managed to keep my Surface Book out of trouble, so to speak. _ Time has beaten me, and I hadn't been able to prevent further updates before attempting to get a new backup with Macrium Reflect. I had been out this afternoon, and the laptop was on the charger, and when I next looked the process, "Working on updates" was under way. No stopping it!!!!! It seems the outcome was without incident, except needing to restart, at least 2 times. More screenshots, taken showing the steps:
