Over time, I have read a lot of articles and forum threads relating to backup and restore applications. Probably after Macrium Reflect, AOMEI Backupper would be one of the more popular ones.

I don't see a lot of talk about this application on this forum though, although I see there is a comparison thread. I am not really looking to compare. What I am more interested in is first and foremost, reliability. I have looked at screenshots, and it appears to have a nice simple GUI, so that's a bonus. Also, it offers lifetime free upgrades.

Has anyone here used it? Is anyone still using it? Has it been reliable for you?

I'm sure more members will weigh in with exactly their results of this product either way.

Their AOMEI Partition Assistant program is for me outstanding and is always made quick and accurate work when dealing with those items.

However for the same reason @Hadron that you raise this topic on AOMEI Backupper the popularity or lack of escapes me also when I see how well the Partition program is proven to be. On this end anyway.

    Hi EASTER.
I was going to mention how good their partitioning software is, but I didn't want to throw bias into my opening post.

Partition Assistant has nothing to do with Backupper and are off topic.

    @Hadron,
My disk is MBR with several partitions: System, windows 7, 10, data, few Linux. I image only the windows OS sections and System reserved using their partitions image and not suggested system images.
Restored each windows-SystemReserved pair once. No issues in Windows 7. None in Windows 10.
Differential images are slow, much slower than Acronis, almost the same time as a full image.
Validations work great. They remember your images which I do from a boot disk exclusively, and don't complain if you delete in windows.
Images are readable in Windows by mounting different letter drives.

It's a very nice program. I'm thinking of buying it since so far I'm on a freebie.
Some time ago we discussed it here, a long thread but you might find it full of small details and opinions:

I used it to copy a live running windows10 to a USB attached HD. I then booted up the copy and it was perfect.

I think its a good program and its next on my software to buy.

    Thanks, guys.

I see you can choose either UEFI or legacy for boot media.

I'm using AOMEI B. since three years: it works fine, it's light and reliable, never had problems with it.

They should combine the boot media with Legacy and UEFI rather than separating them.
That would cut down on having to create more than one bootable media for those with multiple computers.

Anyway, no problem to use the previous version. I don't like the new interface.

    That's nice.

But is it really competitive and dependable as a user would expect?

I've been testing this for 3 months now. So far, so good.
Simple interface, but more importantly, it has been very reliable.

I've used it since version 1.0 when it was freeware. They are generous with giveaways so I always use the pro version. I've done everything that it is capable of doing from basic backup and restore to cloning complicated multiboot and multi partition systems. I never had any serious failures. I haven't tried the latest version. In fact, I could just use version 2.01 and not need any of the newer features added since then.

I've been trying to setup schedules with AOMEI Backupper, but I am a little confused.
With Macrium Reflect, I made a separate monthly full backup, and a weekly differential backup.

This program appears to work a little different.
If I go to my backup on the Home screen and go into the Schedule setting - Advanced, there is an option to choose either a Full, Incremental or Differential backup.
But if I also go to Edit Backup, there is also an option to choose Full, Incremental, Differential, Space Management or Other Backup Scheme.
So, to me it appears that there are two lots of settings similar to each other. Am I just confused?

Can I still make separate monthly full backups, and a weekly differential backups like I do with Macrium Reflect?

I have to say that I am really liking AOMEI Backupper.
Nice interface, simple and reliable (so far).

Has anyone tried AOMEI Partition Assistant? Is it as good?

    Thanks zap.
I am seriously thinking of purchasing both.
I like the way Backupper works. No problems to waste my time with.
