Thanks for the heads up, fblais... I usually just do a netinstall... then you can choose whatever options you want for desktop etc. Quick and easy. I will check this out tomorrow!
Installed on a GPT disk. Secure Boot is supported. In the install I selected auto login but I get prompted to login.

Tried all of the various desktops and finally ended up installing Debian MATE 10.0. Super minimal and light on my 10 year old Asus laptop here... I really like this one, and I get the best HD video out of it too. Really great....
