Some OE Classic background info from Facebook, posted an hour ago: Due to closure of RegNow, we've now switched to ShareIt as our payment provider. The order page is already working properly and the transition was seamless, although it was a bit of a distraction and took us a while until we've put all of it together so it can accept orders as before. Both providers are under the umbrella of the same corporation (Digital River US) and the security of the cart page is up to the highest security standards (SHA256, TLS 1.3), like before. Orders are now processed within seconds, and not after 30 minutes like before and the cart page uses responsive design (mobile-optimized). So some improvements there as well. And we can now fully focus to coding OE Classic again, which is progressing nicely in our internal builds. Next will be version 3.0 I suppose ? Hope for complete Dutch translation, IMAP and default email client.
- All translations are incomplete but become more complete with each new build/version. - Version v3.0 will support IMAP.

- A program that is - IMO - a perfect fit to be used along side with OEC is POPMAN (current version v1.3.8 ). The program allows the user to manage one's emails before the emails are downloaded from the emailserver. I use POPMAN to remove spam email from the email server before I start OEC and download those emails. - Yes, I can access my (new) emails on the website of my email service provider but there the GUI is outright horrible and not user friendly. That's why I like POPMAN so much. It's lightweight, simple and user friendly. Source: http://www.ch-software.de/popman/index.htm - I hope that when IMAP is implemented in OEC in a next (the next ?) version, I can ditch POPMAN. - "Buddel" mentioned POPMAN in e.g. this thread here on this forum: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/popman-1-3-2-released.409781/
Thanks for posting. Yes, I've been using PopMan for a VERY long time. I use it as a mail notifier and as a spam filter. It tells you when important mails arrive and it helps you to delete unwanted mails directly from the server. It's definitely one of my must-have programs.
- Outlook Express Classic has an option that tries to automatically configure the settings for a(n) (new) account. This is done with the "Auto Config" button in the "Accounts" menus (Tools > Accounts > Properties > Basic). When the user clicks on that "Auto Config" button then OEC seeks through a list with known settings for a number of domains. - If the "Auto Config" button doesn't work then the list doesn't (yet) contain the settings for that email provider/domain. In that case the user can help to improve OEC by subitting his/her email/domain settings to the developers of OEC. Send them an email with screenshots of one's settings and/or provide an weblink to the webpage where those settings are listed. Then the developers will add those settings to their database.
OE Classic 3.0 Pro beta - updated 2019-07-01 (1 July 2019) The whole list for version 3.0 : New feature [2019-03-25] SMTP port 587 is now the default port in the Account Wizard/Account Properties (instead of 25) [2019-04-17] New localization file - Russian [2019-04-17] Improved localization file - Portuguese (Brazil) [2019-05-05] Accounts window can be resized (size is saved) [2019-05-08] Color icons for the folder list right click menu [2019-05-24] Improved and faster logging [2019-06-19] IMAP support (public alpha release) [2019-06-22] Huge speed increase (2000%) of the downloaded header list (used in IMAP and message decoder) [2019-07-01] Improved accessibility - View/Sort-By in the main menu(s), Help/Contact window, Message/Folder Properties window [2019-07-01] Additional options in the Folder Properties window - Local File and Synchronize (for IMAP folders) Bug fix [2019-05-07] HTML zoom value (Options/Read) did not reflect the saved value [2019-05-13] Fixed a number of character encoding issues related to loading HTML (displaying a blank message, switching Message Editor Edit/Source/Preview tabs) [2019-06-25] Selecting another folder no longer aborts download (or sending) of emails [2019-07-01] Updated SSL/TLS libraries with the latest bug/security fixes (v1.0.2s) Some notes: - The SSL/TLS libraries updates seem to me the most important updates. Those libraries were updated by Open SSL on 31 May 2019. - What more info may have been posted by the company on FaceBook, I don't know.
- The OEC Facebook post of june 27 (2019) did hint that support for IMAP was only a few days away. And here it indeed is. - If OEC wants to become a serious competitor for other email programs then it needs support for IMAP.
- I consider the support of IMAP to be the most important update feature. This is also visible in the size of the installation program. It's about 800 kb larger than the previous installation file.
- I assume that in the next month(s) / week(s) there will be A LOT OF new OEC updates, each fixing one or more IMAP related bugs.
- New version of OEC PRO available today. Quote from "Readme.txt": "[2019-07-06] Outlook Express 6 import used an old folder name is the folder was renamed so the imported folder structure had different names than expected." https://www.oeclassic.com/news (I don't fully understand what has been fixed. Typo in the text ??)
I didn't either fully understand it; it was a bit strange wording. Probably indeed some typo(s) in the text. Anyways, there is another update. See next post.
