    WebbIE-

    https://www.webbie.org.uk/webbrowser/

    Has anyone tried this browser?

Am considering it as a one off alternative since am fed up with mainstream websites sucking the bandwidth so hard out of what should be a modest rate but they are stalling the crap out of reading pages without stuffing everything up because of videos and all sorts of garbage.

On the main browsers we use daily you have to install a plethora of addons to even view things out on the web because the nonsense is gone so far off the charts anymore.

Seems like the only answer is to find a text only browser without any access to funneling their wares onto it.

I constantly got pages jumping all over the place using Palemoon just trying to read articles on Google News. The text stretches sideways back n forth and all sorts of craziness before it settles down, then scrolling it starts up all over again. About had it with that nonsense.

    So far so good-

Installed and can finally read texts in peace w/o goofy lame brain interruptions. They might as well pull the plug from the whole net if the crap keeps getting worse.

@EASTER - thanks for posting. Sounds interesting. There's times all I want to do is read text, so this is something I could do with. I wonder how it is overall on the privacy front. It would drive me bonkers navigating through all the crapola that people have to put up with these days.

You can achieve a similar result by blocking all scripts/frames/images with uBlock, with the advantage that you can create exceptions for sites quickly with a couple of clicks.

Yep, but that would obviously impair site functionality. You don't have to block images tho, you can use something like https://chrome.google.com/webstore/...mhippoadkhcflebgghophicgldbahdb/related?hl=en ,
"Bandwidth Hero saves data by compressing all images on the page via data compression service which reduces image size by about 50%-75%. Unlike Google's Data Saver, Bandwidth Hero works for both secure and unsecure URLs." After videos and the likes, images consume the most bandwidth. And I rarely if ever see an HTTP site, so data savers which only work on http are useless

Thanks-I will definitely try those suggested too.

The insanity is getting too much to stomach with page sites all over the place squirming like anxious mites all over the place.

Text only is preferred for any reading that be accomplished without interference all the time.

That's very true and I do that already on the main browsers like Vivaldi but using a one off for text only is the main purpose for avoiding all the internal website stuffings just to be able to read a page in peace.

The best ever site is Wilder's Security Forums :)

    Thanks-I might try that too

Once marketeers got hold of this invention called the world wide web, that's exactly what it's become. A digital spider web with intentions to lock users on a single page while the set up loads all sorts of bandwidth robbing junk that quickly leeches onto the end user's view while taxing the resources/CPU etc
