Yep, you got that right. Has its quirks but once you get it it's robust. Sorry I forgot to reply you, some MS pro distracted me.

And as to @Bill_Bright ... so you work for (or are affiliated with) MS and you call me biased ... that almost sounds credible :) As pointed out by you I looked at your signature. Mighty one. So you are an MS MVP. I take my hat off to that, sire! You expect respect for being one? I pay respect for those who pay dues, not to those who have some neat tag to their name and blindly believe MS. But sure, go ahead. I like how you didn't disagree when I said:

Best of luck installing every single MS update, trusting their Defender and so on. Try a HIPS like PFW for 1 day and see how much of the built-in, supposedly-offline MS stuff tries to connect to the internet FOR NO APPARENT REAS
    ON.

This clearly illustrates that you too know that the point I'm making is true but all you could do is shift focus to my ... biasedness. That surely sounds credible coming from an MS MVP :) As advised, do yourself a favour, install some hips like PFW and see how many of the completely supposedly-offline Windows features attempt to connect. Then come back and preach about bias.

As to the first part of your last reply. I can barely make any sense of it. Your definitions of 'infected' are rather different than mine but let's not OT any more. If you'd like to out-talk me, go ahead, I won't reply any longer to a guy who brags about being an MS MVP, calls me a noob, and tells me that any one who is just a little clever can install Linux, without realizing I'm already on it.

Oh so you can express yours, but if not the same as yours, we have to shut up?
    Yeah, that is offensive.
Your statement just illustrates you know nothing about the MS MVP award program. I do not, and never have worked for Microsoft. I am not affiliated with them either. And if you knew anything about me, you would know I am one of their biggest critics. I just use facts to support my accusations, not biased opinions.

And if you read what I have been saying all along in this thread, the point I have been making is we don't need PFW or HIPS.
:argh: Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. You are just like ichito - you can't take your own medicine. Do you even know what your own word, "Deyum" means? Apparently not.

You make claims we need HIPS but have shown zero evidence it is needed. Where's the proof? Show us where not using it will get us infected. You have none so your only recourse is to launch personal, puerile attacks. That's sad and pathetic. "No offense".

Unless I see where HIPS will stop the 100s of millions of us not using it from getting infected, I'm out of here with my original recommendation: we don't need Private Firewall.

    Dear Bill Bright...
    - post #13 gives you proofs but...it looks that you ignored it
    - I don't know why so probably either it was not according your view/idea or you just didn't know what was the meaning of it
    - there is no sense to talk with you...you are talking like advertaisment...so there won't be my others comment in thos thread.

OK I see. But the thing is, it's not easy to make a white-list with most HIPS. So that's why I combine ERP with SpyShelter.

I have used this combination pfw & ERP. It works great! When you start adding AV apps everything starts to slow down. The worst AV you can add is that Windows defender thingy. It just grinds the whole system to a halt!
