Same experience here, I noticed this behavior sometime ago, The Verge has the same "problem" (Firefox works ok).

In latest Chromium the first one loads almost instantly and second one just a few seconds delay, but not 5 seconds. Similar results in latest Firefox as well.

I have the same with The Verge, but only with the home page, all other pages load quickly.

Weird, I wonder if this is a hardware problem that affects only Chromium based browsers. I have this problem with Chrome, Opera, Edge and Vivaldi. But thanks for checking guys.

BTW, I'm currently trying to free up disk-space on my SSD, but with the help of WizTree, I noticed that Chrome and Vivaldi both take up 1GB of space on disk. Is this normal?

1 GB each or combined? Chrome takes up nearly 450 MB on my system.

    EDIT

Correction, there's another 400+ MB in the user space directories

    Vivaldi alone:490+420=910 MB
    C:\Program Files\Vivaldi = 490 MB
    C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Vivaldi=420 MB

Sorry if this has been asked already. But why does Chrome 64 bit install into x86 and runs at the 32bit level?

I just viewed Chrome processes in the task manager and they do not say "32 bit".

If you right click while in task manager, go to properties, it says 32bit.

This method simplifies the upgrade process when migrating from 32-bit to 64-bit.

    https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=380177

While it may say 32 bit in properties (I cant confirm this in my Windows 10 machine) it clearly is running as a 64-bit executable.

Using Process Explorer you just have to select the column "Image type". It will reveal the process as either 32 bit or 64 bit. If the 64 bit installer was used it will be 64 bit.

I didn't realize you weren't allowed to asks general questions about Chrome in that thread.

Actually, you're right. I don't now what happened but I'm now seeing this huge loading delay on ALL pages from The Verge. This is starting to get on my nerves. This must be some bug in Blink, apparently it has difficulty to progress certain HTML 5 code. I guess it's time to make a bug report.

I noticed it because I have installed both Vivaldi and Chrome inside a dedicated sandbox, and they are both about 1 GB big. Why on earth should a browser take up so much space, I wouldn't call this progress. The Chromium framework really is a quite crappy.

The only Blink-based browser I use is Vivaldi and I share your experience with loading time. I think that Blink-based browsers don't show content until almost everything is loaded, while Firefox shows content before that even if it is incomplete and then apply changes as needed when more information is retrieved from Internet.

Workaround: block inline-scripts with uBlockO on the website. You'll notice the difference.

What the hell, mood you are a genius. This does indeed solve the problem! I will for now block inline scripts on a global level, but I did just see that you can't reply in this forum anymore. At least not without excluding this site, that's the cool thing about uBlock. :thumb:

Just to be clear, I only have this problem on certain sites. Most websites load pretty fast, just as fast as in Firefox. I believe when it comes to speed, Gecko and Blink are about the same. But based on this stupid problem, I do think that Gecko is currently a bit better.

The verge as well as pages from it load instantly for me, and I don't block inline scripts. Even with ublock origin off, everything loads instantly. Must be something on your side.

Correct, except for the fact that more people have this problem. So it must be a problem related to certain hardware, and only Google can fix this. Also, I decided not to block inline scripts on a global level, because it breaks a lot of websites. But at least for now the problem with The Verge is fixed.

Idk man. 1st step when u have any problem is to clean install (or wipe vm). If you're still getting the problem after that then you can proceed to troubleshoot further. But troubleshooting without clean install is like trying to figure out why your underwear is dirty when you **** in them 5 times a day and you swim in mud daily (ok that's not the best of analogies). You wouldn't know when the problem appears until you observe each and every action that could be causing it, one by one. And when the problem pops, you'll know - THIS is causing it :D

I clean installed 1803 and no more dropped frames.1809,1903 introduced some strange bugs on my Toshiba that are just not present in 1803.Toshiba knows about it but that's is far as I can get with them.1903 seems a long way from being stable on some systems so I blocked it.I would buy a newer laptop but it seems like Russian Roulette right at this point.
