Not yet. In my case it is maybe due to having a dual graphic machine (Intel and AMD) and their recent issues on 1903, so MS could withdraw the upgrade for those machines until it is settled. Just guessing.

As @wat0114 said it should be the PSU. Probably the identification chip of the power supply got "toasted".
Check you bios menu at the battery settings. It should report the watts of your PSU. If you see something like "unknown psu" with yellow letters you'll have to replace it.

Have not been offered it as of yet. I will likely do a clean install anyway, just have not had time.

Is anyone having problems launching the sandbox?

Not for everyone. See my post #4955 above.

I'm also pretty sure it doesn't have nearly all the features Sandboxie has.

I have sandboxie on my Windows Home machine, the only feature I consider useful is the forced programs, anyway Windows Sandbox looks more to Shadow Defender than Sandboxie anyway.

It doesn't offer the same features from Sandboxie sadly enough.

I can't believe that people still bother to upgrade Win 10. When I buy a machine I will disable Win Update as soon as possible.

I haven't seen anything so far that Microsoft will offer extended support to Win 7. If so, t will cost $$$$. So I assume you are running Win 8.1?

As I said earlier, don't mind much about the features. Security isn't about toying with gadgets. However, I admit that it has only feature I deem worthy.

So I hope you will never encounter a kernel exploit which usually run at session 0.

Most know that I do and count myself lucky for now that Windows department did a fairly decent effort at putting a good usable O/S series (complete with a featured backup system) that can hold it's own strong against even it's latest Windows 10's bells & whistles.

Seeing as the Windows Sandbox discussion was talking place in the Windows Defender thread, I moved my stuff over here to not be off-topic as others correctly observed. I did see some mention that Windows Sandbox could be activated on Home versions similar to installing the gpedit.msc packages. Like I said, not going there at this time. Also, I find it kind of a dilemma with hyperthreading: you're supposed to disable it to mitigate the latest cpu vulnerabilities but keep it enabled for the Sandbox. Which one do you pick? (granted, I still think the Spectre ones are a bit rare yet). PS: you can activate Defender's sandbox via Command Prompt--Winaero has a guide, if you don't want to use PowerShell. Same-diff.

Care to "enlight" us on this one? Never heard that virtualization was a vulnerability in this regard. Note that Win 10 1803+ uses core isolation protection by default as long as virtualization is supported and enabled in the BIOS/UEFI.

You seem to confuse virtualization with cpu hyperthreading. You've heard of the zombieload vulnerability affecting Intel cpus? That's what I'm referring to. Although, I read that Microsoft has already offered some mitigations for that in a kb.

I read a lot about this but need to learn a lot still.

Edit: Here are my machine's BIOS settings. Virtualization is disabled. Hyperthreading (HTT) is enabled, and I'm not disabling it. In order to run Windows' Sandbox, though, I'd have to access my BIOS and enable virtualization.

Yes. And as far as I am aware of vitualization is N/A to it with the recommended mitigation to disable hyper-threading.

The recommendation is to enable virtualization since it has zip impact on hyper-threading:

After reading the posts here I wanted to try out Windows Sandbox (even though I have a Sandboxie lifetime license).

That failed quickly; I cannot enable it because my CPU (from 2008...) has no second level address translations (SLAT).

Speaking of the Windows sandbox, it now works for me (don't ask me how). At least I can launch it and run program files in it. However, I can't access the Internet with it. Searching around, it looks like many others have this issue as well.

It's probably your firewall setup (svchost.exe). I ran into that issue using WFC. I disabled secure rules in the WFC settings, turned the sandbox feature off in programs and features, then turned it back on. The rules were created when I launched it after turning it back on. I've since turned it back off and deleted the rules, but I did take a snip of the rules that were created in WFC.
