I have been using Linux for the last years. So I am not much familiar with the win10. My daughter married and left me her laptop (dell i5)which contains win 10.I do not want to do a lot of reading,so is it enough to use windows defender? I am a regular user.I use ublock origin on firefox. Are there any precautions or things to look after?
If you practice safe computing WD is enough. uBlock Origin is IMO something every user should use. Update your system and applications and backup your data and you should be fine.
If you want hardened security without installing problematic 3rd-party apps, you can use Andy Ful's tools for Software Restriction Policy and Attack Surface Reduction. The tools are called Hard_Configurator (it is for SRP, and it includes the second tool as well) and ConfigureDefender. If you use them, plus you use a Standard (not admin) user account, you are very well secured.
I figured a Linux user would like it Most Windows users don't have the patience for that kind of a thing.
Since you are a Linux user I assume the first thing you did was to create a standard user account instead of using the admin account?
