Started out OK. Uninstalled One Drive from Programs and Features, checked for Windows Updates and found two, .Net + Cumulative Updates. Said a restart was required so clicked, "Restart now" = black screen again.

I'll leave it for a few more minutes but I have a feeling I'll be using my friend Macrium Reflect again.

guest, it could be a driver for my graphics, I just don't know. If it is, a clean install will not help anyway.

MR is busy restoring once again. I've had enough fun for one day.

Try not uninstall Onedrive lol. It is quite interlaced in Win10.

It has been uninstalled on all my machines since the very first day the first Win10 version was released and never caused me trouble, ever.

yeah, if it were cortana @Krusty removed, i'd say that it was the culprit. but i don't think removing od would cause a black screen. so, i say @Krusty is right.

I don't want OneDrive. If the machine shows a black screen because it's gone, then Windows will be gone.
Hmm, that makes me think. I have used a registry key to disable Cortana for all previous versions, but Cortana and Search are separate now.

Edit: Of course it is possible SysHardener could be relevant. Hard to say. I'll try a clean install in a few days, but my DVDs aren't suitable. The ISO I downloaded using a Linux User Agent is too big and for some reason the one I created with the Media Creation Tool just doesn't except my disks. It is about 4GB so should fit.

Yes, of course I can use a flash drive.

No problems upgrading W10 1903. Maybe an issue with Sandboxie 5.30: with a sandboxed FF 67 and IE11 files failed to download (both FF 67 and IE11). Unsandboxed no problems.

@Krusty I highly doubt that OneDrive is the cause and quite possibly it is a driver issue. What video card does the computer have?

I have just confirmed this on a Win 10 machine which was upgraded to 1903.
Nothing downloads via Sandboxie although everything else regarding Sbie seems okay.

I'll get back to you on that, Roger. It has an AMD card and Intel graphics but I'm not on that machine to give exact details.

you know, quite the contrary, i believe ms will look the other way and ignore it (like they did in similar situations in the past), just because it'll provide them more feedback from home users to improve the sandbox. in a way, it means more beta testers. ;)

Wow, this discussion blew up to multiple pages fast... I am installing the update to a few select PCs as time allows. I have been running 1903 on my personal machines for a couple of months now. I find it a little snappier than the 1809. Also less troublesome. I am finding that on the PCs at work over the last couple of days it is taking over 2 hours each to get from 1809 to 1903. Allow yourself 2 to 3 hours for the upgrade. I haven't had any problems yet.

The same thing here. Up to 3 hours to update to 1903 and no problems yet.
P.S. It resolved my "flickering" issues from the last Windows update - 5/17/2019.

I've encountered one issue. After closing the lid on my laptop, when I open it again, I get a black screen. I have to put the computer to sleep and then wake it again, to get video again. I have my laptop configured to keep running when the lid is closed.

@Krusty Thanks. While I have no definite solution, here are some things to try.

Download the latest driver from AMD. If they doesn't help, disable the AMD graphics in the BIOS, it you can. One more thing to try, is pressing the power button, to put the laptop to sleep when the screen goes black and then when it's gone to sleep, pressing the power button again. Possibly you will have video again, once the computer wakes from sleep.

    Hi Roger,

I have the latest version for the AMD card. I have my power button set to shut the machine down, not put the machine to sleep, and I kind of like it that way. I guess I could try disabling the AMD card, but after two goes yesterday taking a total of nearly 4 hours including two restores, I'm just not keen to go down that road again soon.

As a side note, I installed an Intel updater program yesterday which updates any Intel drivers. It found and updated a bluetooth driver, a WiFi driver and Rapid Storage Technology program, but none for the Intel graphics. It was scheduled to scan weekly so I thought it might be fine to keep that... until I found that after every system restart Chrome would open and that updater program was scanning for updates. There was no startup entry to disable or setting that I could find. I guess Autoruns could have solved that. This prompted one more restore.

@Krusty Hopefully it is an issue that Microsoft will fix soon. At least you can still use the previous build in the meantime.
