OK I have a laptop that I had to restore to factory default back to 10 years ago so I have millions of updates that I need to make probably spend days and nights All those smart guys in Microsoft dont they have better solution? Do I need to click update and update and wait for things to come back to normal? Is there any faster way?
Just use the Windows 10 Update Assistant to get the latest version of Windows 10 and then check for updates. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3159635/windows-10-update-assistant For future times you can use the windows built-in reset to get a fresh copy of an up to date Windows 10. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026528/windows-10-reset-or-reinstall
If the laptop was reset to 10 years ago chances are that the OS is Win7 and not Win 10... If the OS is Win7 SP1 then you can install the Convenience Rollup from May 2016 first before installing the later updates. Makes it a lot faster to get the OS up to date. Before installing the Rollup you need to install an update for the Servicing Stack. Just google for "Win7 Convenience Rollup" to find the downloads.. Another way is to use WSUSOffline from https://www.wsusoffline.net/ This lets you download all available updates at once for later updating your OS offline. Cheers manolito
Sorry for the late reply I hope the one from @manolito helps. IMO the reset function of windows 10 is a great reason to upgrade. But I don't know if your laptop can run Windows 10.
a pre-installed windows with a lot of crap. who told you to do this way? unnecessary dumb work - boot from stick or dvd with win10 on it and start over with a "clean install" 10 year old hardware is "special" and sometimes not successful - give hardware specs please, modell, vendor, ram, etc
