Comcast on Tuesday agreed to sell its ownership stake in the streaming video service to Disney. The sale won't happen for at least another five years, but Disney will take full operational control of Hulu right now.
Now Hulu is effectively a Disney product. The company became the majority stakeholder in the streaming video service after it closed a deal for most of Fox's assets in March.

Disney has already made clear that Hulu will be a critical part of its streaming strategy.
Disney executives talked about potentially bundling its services together for a discounted price. They also said they want all of their services, including Hulu, to reach profitability within the next several years.

I really hope that Hulu will soon be available in Europe. BTW, I sometimes wonder how much money it would cost to license movies. I would charge you guys 30 bucks per quarter for this movie selection (515 movies), so no monthly contracts. I'm sure I would attract millions of people.

Brazil’s antitrust regulator said on Wednesday it will reassess Walt Disney Co’s (DIS.N) $71 billion purchase of Twenty-First Century Fox (FOXA.O) because the divestiture requested by the regulator as a condition for the merger of U.S. media companies has not happened yet.

“The deal approved in February was contingent on the sale of the Fox Sports channel. As the sale was not finalized, the case will be re-examined,” the regulator known as ‘Cade’ said in a statement.

The regulator said it requested the sale of Fox Sports to maintain the same level of competition in the Brazilian market after the deal, with three different sports options: SporTV, ESPN and the service provided by a new company with the Fox assets.
The companies “tried” to comply with the request, but had not succeeded, the regulator said.

The mouse has officially killed the fox.
In a move at once unsurprising and highly symbolic, the Walt Disney Company is dropping the “Fox” brand from the 21st Century Fox assets it acquired last March, Variety has learned. The 20th Century Fox film studio will become 20th Century Studios, and Fox Searchlight Pictures will become simply Searchlight Pictures.

On the TV side, however, no final decisions have been made about adjusting the monikers of production units 20th Century Fox Television and Fox 21 Television Studios. Discussions about a possible name change are underway, but no consensus has emerged, according to a source close to the situation.

Disney Television Studios is rebranding its trio of studios.

Shedding the Fox name entirely from 20th Century Fox Television in the wake of the Disney-Fox merger, that studio will now be known as 20th Television. Meanwhile, ABC Studios and ABC Signature will collectively become ABC Signature, while Fox 21 Television Studios has been renamed Touchstone Television.
Nixing “Fox” from 20th TV was part of the negotiated merger terms between Disney and 21st Century Fox in order to prevent confusion among consumers.

The changes to the studios’ branding are effective immediately, although each studio’s new name and logo may not be fully integrated into their branding until the end of 2020.
