    Beta = 7.3.0.0

    Release = 7.2.7.0

    Jerome posted yesterday that a 7.3 (with a correction) would be out later this week. Today's beta publication (update) may be what was meant. At the time of this post, v7.2.7.0 is still downloaded from the generic URL hxxps ://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/adwcleaner.

    I sincerely apologize to anyone I may have confused.

    HTH Cheers

    Well, it is a teeny bit confusing but in AdwCleaner's direction. I recall getting this off the ToolsLib site on March 14th but don't recall seeing "beta" anywhere and it's not on the user interface. I see it listed as "beta" now on the downloads page. No biggie, I guess but I'd rather know up front what exactly the version is, and it's assumed the release version is the one you're downloading off the site. Oh well, I've had no issues with it regardless.

    You are very welcome, JR.

    The observations of @plat1098 are quite valid. It may have been helpful too if the dev (Jerome Boursier) had caused the file/product versions to be bumped with yesterday's publication (e.g. 7.3.0.1 or 7.3.1.0). It seems as if any reference to the word "Beta" is now consciously omitted from any Malwarebytes product even while that classification applies. Also, the question of why the archives, alphas, betas and releases are distributed from ToolsLib, using a French server farm, have been raised before. IMHO that beta delivery roll may be best filled by the current box.com or (when RTM/Gold) Malwarebytes' own carefully managed contract Cloud CDN with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

    In passing, my hat tips to @mood for taking on update notification posts.

    Cheers

    A third Malwarebytes AdwCleaner v7.3.0.0 Beta has been published today:

    Download

    No further new v7.3.0.0 history/changelog details were available at this time.

    Note: v7.2.7.0 is still the current release version.

    Cheers

    is this a false positive? adwcleaner detected this :eek:

    Trojan.Agent HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\FirewallRules|{C97F7B79-007C-47DA-B75E-2AA693875F31}

    i then used farbar recovery scan, and it says it's related to jusched.exe

    FirewallRules: [{C97F7B79-007C-47DA-B75E-2AA693875F31}] => (Allow) C:\program files (x86)\common files\java\java update\jusched.exe (Oracle America, Inc. -> Oracle Corporation)

    but when i used adwcleaner to delete it, my NAS access got blocked :(

    i managed to system restore to get it working again. but not sure if this is a false positive, hm...

    any ideas?

    i'm using the MBAM firewall using basic settings. avast AV (free) and OSarmor (default).

    Hello @Moogle Stiltzkin

    Thank you for the data. Please consider starting a new topic in the developer's Malwarebytes AdwCleaner subforum.

    Then, since you have run The Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) as a worthwhile bonus, please attach the following three (3) files there:
    1. FRST.txt
    2. Addition.txt
    3. Relevant Scan Log - e.g. C:\AdwCleaner\Logs\AdwCleaner[Sxx].txt
    Thank you.

    >select app, click remove, confirm, confirm the uninstaller, close the browser, that opened for survey, click finish.
    Select the next app, and so on, and on...
    For a professional supporter, it's a major advantage, to do it with one click, including restart.

    so called "clean setup" :D
    sorry, but "preinstalled software" could be like an unwanted pimple at the butt (pickel am hintern)

    After every scan it shows me the same list of preinstalled software. I should be able to ignore these so i don't have to keep seeing them after every scan.

    Updated to v. 7.4. This seems to have really improved in detections and scan times in the past year. Those who buy new Lenovo machines might find this really useful. Thanks!

    The latest version of adwCleaner didn't find any preinstalled crapware on my machine but I still think this is a useful and most welcome new feature.

    You should be able to right click on anything detected and select Add to Exclusions List.
