All of a sudden Bratislava, Slovakia sounds like a good place for an AV company to be headquartered. :thumb:

I guess that they will try to enforce NDA to hackers if they decide to pay ransomware. We'll see.

There aren't that many in the top-tier: Symantec, Webroot, Vipre, McAfee, Cylance come to mind.

There are also some also-rans that are almost never mentioned here on Wilders.

I guess that NDA would cost extra.

    Hasn't Symantec been hacked already?

Unless there's been a more recent hack, the one that comes to mind was for old code and didn't affect the current versions of Norton at the time.

That's also my recollection of that incident.

Yes it would be nice for the end user to know who has been compromised, but I can see why they would not want anyone to know, as them not being able to protect themselves would not inspire much confidence in their end products and likely taint their brands for good.

If they can't protect data and network access, I don't see them keeping something like this quiet for long.

"AdvIntel works directly with Symantec to mitigate the risk. Even though Fxmsp collective claimed that the company is in the victim list, they have not provided any
sufficient evidence to support this allegation. We believe with a high degree of confidence that Symantec's assessment of risks and their statement that "there is no reason
for our [Symantec] customers to be concerned currently" is correct."

The truth will come out sooner or later.

I stopped using Symantec/Norton years ago after they were hacked the last time. McAfee is probably worse in terms of the security level that they could possibly provide.
