RollBack Rx Snapshots/ horizondatasys.com is offering Rollback RX to restore pc

Please be aware this software will cause so many issues. After installing it tripled my pc booting time
and it also completely disabled the default system restore. My PC would take more than 7 min to boot
in normal condition it only took 1 min 45 seconds or so to boot.

I approached the company but the support was very unfriendly and all they told me was that the free version
will take a long time to boot but while searching in google and specially in Amazon I found out even the paid version causes so many issues.

I have uninstalled but now my default pc system restore does not work either. It is now two days I am spending to troubleshoot my pc

Please be careful . Do not install

I always been and am still honestly fearful of this program will ruin something sooner or later.

There is been plenty of negatives talked about in discussion, and although I would like nothing more that to make use of a snapshot system like Rollback Rx, like some others I have to see more raving positive reviews than the downsides. I just not seen it yet.

As long as they been in business with this Flagship Program you would think it would been top notch by now.

And maybe it is, I just don't know. But I do know i'm not willing to chance it until it makes a big splash where it won't cause serious issue like is been reported before and maybe along all it's releases?

Maybe someone can fill in the blanks on it's SAFE improvements lately or whether older versions are more dependable.

I could yes, and would. I just don't understand why this snapshot rollback program seems to have had difficulty with some users/customers on toasting their O/S. They surely keep records on all of it, issues and improvements or adjustments that overcome it's limitations.

How long before they finally recode it to work as expected and not run any risk in it breaking a system?

Easter, it's a problem with it's basic design. It work by storing the snapshots on the disk outside of the windows file system. The only access to everything is thru their driver. If there is a problem poof, all is lost. That is why I won't risk it.

So then if they are aware of that issue, and surely they are, why won't they change it to make it a safer program for customers to want to purchase instead of taking a chance on?

Thanks for that info @Peter2150 -- It explains a Rollback-caused PC disaster that I experienced about 15 years ago (not sure how relevant that is now).

In that event, while Windows was telling me that I had plenty of free space on my HDD, whenever I tried to save something to my HDD I got a notice that my HDD was "Full". I also was experiencing other operational issues. Moreover, my recovery discs would not work properly.

As a first step to recovery, I had to download a program from Western Digital to a floppy disc that zeroed-out the HDD.

I was using a Velocity Micro PC at the time and after I explained my problem to their tech support, the first thing I was asked was if I was using Rollback. I was told that they were getting lots of problem calls from others using Rollback.

    The worst money spent.
IRS (leapfrog) was better than RB.
Unable to boot with RB had to reformat. So you could call it a disaster.
Went to macrium reflect, and never had a problem since

    Wow

    Now that IS totally unacceptable.

I speak of Rescue Media-If a software program of any sorts interferes to the point of making a user's Rescue Media ineffective then that is a total washout IMO.

Couple of additional thoughts. Since it is the basic of their design I don't think there is any chance of them changing it. Is it still as relevant. I think so. Recognize some folks have had success with it. I won't chance it. One of the torture tests I subject the imaging programs I use is to start a restore, and then do a power reset. It trashes the disk. I should then be able to restore back to a good system. The imaging programs I use have survived this. With Macrium and use of its CBT technology I have almost the same speed as Rollback which make it even more pointless to take the risk.

Each user has to decide for himself. Just understand what you are dealing with.

Biggest problem I had with it is that it disables the ability to make restore points and a lot of software will make restore points during their installation but cause restore points are disabled those installations will hang.

Granted on some you might be able to disable the "make a restore point" during the installations, others you just won't be able to install.

I used to use RX as a testing environment on a testing machine, so I didn't mind about crash and co.

However I stopped using it after v10, the price doesn't worth the amount of potential issues. And from what I heard and read, v11 is even worse than v10...so no way on my prod system. Better with Macrium.

If you are going to use it, use it on a machine dedicated for testing purposes. If anything screws up, at least you won't have to lose anything important.

Do you mean that software is just made to be used on a test machine :)

I made the mistake of using similar software to Rollback Rx on my primary machine and it wasn't a good experience when things went wrong. I am just giving caution to others who wish to use these type of software to use it on a test machine instead.

Snapshot software like RX must be installed after the user has made a backup of his system, then it doesn't matter much if it crashes.
