Firefox May Add Some Tor Features for Super Private Browsing Mode

Mozilla said in the company's public Research Grants 2019H1 report that it wants to integrate some Tor features into the Firefox web browser with the end goal of adding a so-called Super Private Browsing (SPB) mode.

This would eventually lead to a larger number of users using the Tor network for browsing the web which, ultimately, will also boost their privacy and anonymity on the Internet.
"Academic research is just getting started with regards to investigating alternative protocol architectures and route selection protocols, such as Tor-over-QUIC, employing DTLS, and Walking Onions," says Mozilla's report.

Mozilla started working on including some Tor features into its browser as part of the Tor Uplift project that got them assigned to be included in Firefox at a later time as discovered by GHacks.
The general approach is to add preferences for anything that breaks the web and set them to default "off" so that the behavior of default Firefox does not change."

Huh. So Firefox will add a "Tor browser" mode?

That's cool 'n' all. But I'm concerned that even more people will pwn themselves through clueless recklessness.

Mozilla and the Tor Project are in the early stages of exploring the inclusion of Tor's private browsing features within the Firefox web browser in the form of a privileged extension.

These are some of the issues presented by a potential Tor integration within Firefox as part of the Super Private Browsing (SPB) mode, as stated by Mozilla in its Research Grants 2019H1 report:

IMO It is not a good idea to browse the web with tor integrated firefox or brave if the anonymity is important to you. Will Super private browsing mode disable java script? You even shouldn't use Tor browser with js enabled. You should leave window as it is, don't play with its size. This way, they can't know your screen resolution, effective screen resolution, how many cpu core your pc has etc... I think they can also see what your DNS is.
