My days of torrenting are over. Etertainment Software Association detected BitTorent activity for downloading "something" in April 2019. The funny part is that "something" is what I already owned for over a year, but it was the sharing part that rendered an infringement. My ISP, Atlantic Broadband sent me a letter and explained that they simply forward such notifications they get from ESA, RIAA, MPAA, and etc. to whichever customers with "busted" IP addresses. Atlantic Broadband has a 6-strike policy before they cut off customers' connection for such letters. This was strike 1 in about 2 years of torrenting all kinds of stuff and I stopped seeding once whichever download was complete. I used Russian sites with Russian torrent trackers that offered content for Russian/Russian-speaking population (specifically with Russian translation) with most "peers" showing Russian Federal IP addresses. I was hoping that ESA, RIAA, and MPAA would not target those trackers due to Russian Federal ISP's being out of reach for them. General advice I got so far is: 1. Stop torrenting altogether 2. Get a paid VPN that is: - very anonymous - does not log activity - does not leak IP or DNS - stays equally anonymous, does not log activity, and does not leak IP or DNS for torrenting - fast 3. Get one of those VPN services made just for torrenting (with same requirements I listed above for general paid VPN service) 4. Switch to paid NewsGroups service because those are less likely to get busted What would you suggest? I had a buddy who shared 5 slots with me for paid NewsGroup service, but he canceled it later, which is why I switched to torrenting afterwards.
