    Have a small related question: Just updated to v. 5.30. I have never touched the check-for-update configuration, just when this started, I was hitting the "Now" button. This error message still appears with the new version. Shouldn't this message be gone now? The activation server seems to be working here, the license info is the normal one. Oh well, as long as Sandboxie is still around and I ain't gotta learn something new, it's good.

    You can force a process into a sandbox it doesn’t have rights to run in if you want sandboxie to block it’s execution. I tend to do this with most drive letters and startup folders.

    I’m now intrigued by ReHIPS though. Will take a look.

    Hi plat, perhaps the first time, a few minutes ago, after updating Sandboxie to 5.30, the activation of your license was not successfull. That sort of thing has happened before. But if your license appears now as activated, then you are OK.

    Yes I know, but what I meant is that in ReHIPS you have, on top of its sandboxing, an application control module, kind of anti-exe.

    Be aware that the demo version allows only 10 sandboxed processes at a time, so if you want run a multi-processes browser it may be difficult.

    I think with Firefox you can disable multi-process function.

    You should stop first at the ReHips forum to get a overall idea of what it is and what it does.

    Anyway this is an sandboxie thread, you can read about rehips on it's own thread.

    Not in a big hurry to upgrade at this time.

    If you are not some kind of "test-holic" or have an issue with the previous version, no reason to update.

    FWIW, my W10 1803 has also been updated to version 5.30. All is well. The activation of the license worked out not as quick as in the W7, but it activated without error or Sandboxie messages. Now, is time to test all the programs I run sandboxed and the activities I do sandboxed to make sure things not only look good but they are actually good.

    I already done the tests in my W7 and couldn't find any error or anything wrong with 5.30 in my W7. This Sandboxie version feels good. :)

    Just had a quick look in the Sbie.ini I have on these machines. Win 10 with no popup problems that you guys have had.

    Machine1
    UpdateCheckNotify=n
    SbieCtrl_NextUpdateCheck=1556538759

    Machine2
    UpdateCheckNotify=n
    SbieCtrl_NextUpdateCheck=1556276559

    Will update to 5.30 later when I am happy that this has all been sorted.

    If you have UpdateCheckNotify=n you won't get the popups as update checks are carried out in the background without user interaction.
    It seems both yourself and @paulderdash have sandboxie checking for updates weekly. The problems only occur for those who selected to 'never check for updates' so you should be okay on the older version.

    bo elam, this was the right thing you said in allowing some time to get things straightened out. Everything seems back to normal now running v. 5.30 (latest). Thanks for your help and assurance.

    ^^ This, I have had to close the UI on both my machines, if I click cancel or never it just keeps popping up repeatedly, there is some serious bad coding here, as clearly never does not mean never and the app is still trying to conenct to the servers and as they down its causing this loop.

    Also I discovered sansboxie.ini is stored in c:\windows

    Code:
    C:\>dir /a /s sandboxie.ini
     Volume in drive C has no label.
     Volume Serial Number is 7A77-AAC2

     Directory of C:\Windows

    24/10/2018  22:12             5,186 Sandboxie.ini
                   1 File(s)          5,186 bytes

         Total Files Listed:
                   1 File(s)          5,186 bytes

    I tried editing that to 'n' but I still get the update window bombarding me.
    So given that (a) the website is down, (b) the update is in a loop with the update prompt not allowing me to access rest of UI, how do I get the latest version?

    Not that it helps now but for anyone else having the same issue you can click "next week" instead of "never" which will prevent the check for a week.

    Likely because you were modifying the ini directly while sandboxie was still running. There's an option on the Check for updates windows which says "in the future, check for updates without asking". You can tick this to prevent the popup without having to restart sandboxie. Again, more for other people as you now have the issue resolved.

    The issue re updating to v5.3 is not yet resolved because the licence cannot be reactivated until the site is active again

    If you keep trying it will eventually go through, mine did, it's just overwhelmed with traffic at the moment. Saying that I would probably recommend people just hitting the "next week" option until issues with the site are resolved.
