    Hello,

I am looking at installing a network wide adblocking and tracking etc on some hardware either am old laptop or raspberry pi.
I dont have much time nowadays with work commitments to spend configuring or building things so a relatively easy solution is the best with the extra cost been swallowed.

I have heard of pi-hole but dont have a raspberry pi computer yet but am willing to buy one.
There is also adguard home which can be installed on the raspberry pi buti havent come across any information apart from adguard themselves.

Does pi-hole block the trackers and malicious stuff as well or is it only focused on adverts?

So how easy is it to do?
    for adguard home?
    or pi-hole?

I have some knowledge but over the past 4 years i have not kept up to date with computers in general just the odd bit of security news on here. A rough idea of how many hours it is to setup with be useful even if extra configuration is needed to improve things after initial setup.
I want something up and running fairly quickly.

What sort of raspberry computer would i require?
Is there a kit for pi-hole/adguard with all the bits needed?

I do have adguard installed on win7 and my mobile and tablets so i have some idea of how it will work.

    thanks for your time
    Martin

Correct... unless you want to overclock it. For pi-hole any pi will do.

Well, it doesn't need it. However, I'm using it with a case with 3 heatsinks and a mini-fan which caused the CPU temperature to drop dramatically.

What temps did you get before in the web admin interface?
I am getting 55 degrees Centegrade.

It might be a good idea during the summer when room temp rises to high 20s.

Right now 39 degrees. Without that case it had been around 60 degrees.

    That seems worth while.
I could start with the heatsink and see how much reduction there is.

Does the heatsink have a brand?
or can you link to one then i can search in the uk on ebay/amazon
