I learned the hard way with this company. When you buy a lisence the 1 year timer starts ticking the day you get the key via email and not when you install it.
I think it's quite common practice although in AV we have rather the beginning from typing valid key into registration box in app. SS is the specific program even among security app so an assumption is (my speculation) that user will install trial version first...by this way user has already working application and there is no delay with the beginning of license.
@ichito -- Many thanks for the heads-up. 25% discount is excellent! If I ever decide to replace Private FW+HIPS (PFW), it will be SS that I choose. Yes, PFW is not so up-to-date or powerful as SS, but -- for now -- PFW is a perfect fit with my image-based security.
It will be good decision @bellgamin I like PFW also but honestly my "for ever" favourite is Online Armor It's sad that both apps are not officialy reachable for users who want to test and know better them.
I like PFW but I loved Online Armor. PFW 7.0.30.3 (dated 12/20/2013) is the last version of PFW as far as I know. It supports Windows 8 / 7 / Vista/ XP. Available at Major Geeks. However, folks who swim often in shark infested waters should use SpyShelter.
