Indeed, and Mint is always based on LTS Ubuntu, and more polished in my experience. Mint's LMDE, based on Debian, is lagging though. It's presently based on Debian 8 (oldstable), which is much too old for me. You get outdated program versions. That said, Linux has completely replaced Windows for me at home as well.
I'd have thought LTS releases would have been the most popular. People sometimes ask me what it's like being totally Windows free. I reply "it's bloody great!"
