One thing I enjoy best about BleachBit is writing my own xml filters for cleaning. :thumb:

The option to add ini files is in the preferences or add them manually in the cleaners folder (BleachBit-Portable\share\cleaners).

Thanks. Decided to check it out. Portable Version. We on this end are Portable types. Less mess less fuss you know.

But i still use Eraser big time. It's on every single machine irregardless of it's old stature. It works perfectly!

Since mine are spindle drives (all of them) Eraser clears/scrambles deletes to keep the machines moving smoothly as ever.

BUT, will tinker with famous/infamous Bleach Bit new version and see how it compares.

Yes, I know. :D It's my first foray into BleachBit as well, since CCleaner is getting a bit evil. ;) You're welcome! Take care.

Got the Windows portable version last week.
It doesn't seem to detect anything in Chrome's cache folder. (5 byteso_O?)
CCleaner says there's more than 80MB there.
Searched a bit about this issue and didn't find anything.

    Thanks in advance!

I can not use BleachBit portable on my main PC for the reason described in the 3D below:

    BleachBit 2.1 beta Released (February 10, 2019)
    Announcement
    Download
    Changes
For a list of changes see the commit log, Launchpad bug tracker, and GitHub bug tracker.

    Tests
These tests are for both Windows and Linux.
    • Click Help - System Information, and there should be a line that starts Git revision.
    • Open your operating system's file browser, and copy some files (that you don't need) to the clipboard. In BleachBit, click File - Shred Paths from Clipboard.
    • Test the following cleaners that had major changes: Adobe Flash, Google Chrome, Chromium, Opera, Firefox, Waterfox.
    • Clean non-default profiles in Firefox
    • Use the command line option --wipe-free-space.
    Windows
    • Clean SmartFTP.
    • Click File - Shred Files, and select many files at once (see #348).
    • Make a symlink to a folder with files. Delete the symlink, leaving the folder not needed. Use BleachBit to clean the recycle bin. Verify the files are not deleted.
    • Shred a file on a remote system, such as NAS (see #338).
    • Test installation as an upgrade from BleachBit 2.0 and as a fresh installation.
    • Test both installer options: install for all users, and install for just the current user.
    • Test uninstallation in both cases: all users and current user.
    • Disable automatic updates for winapp2.ini. Replace the winapp2.ini that is automatically downloaded with the unmodified version from winapp2.com. Start BleachBit and close it, and verify there are no errors. New cleaners may be detected.
    Linux
    • Run a deep scan. (Preview is sufficient.) Verify there are no errors.
    • Clean memory on a system with a swap partition greater than 16 GiB.
    • Run BleachBit without X, such as in cron.
    • Test new distributions: Fedora 28 and Ubuntu 18.04 and 18.10.

    BleachBit 2.3 beta Released (October 5, 2019)
    Announcement
    Download
    Changes
For a list of changes see the commit log and GitHub bug tracker.

    Tests
These tests are for both Windows and Linux.

    • Test the user GUI in general because of the major upgrade from GTK+ 2 to GTK 3.
    • Make chaff.
    • Click the stop button while BleachBit is working.
    • Restart BleachBit to verify it saves its window size, position, and whether it was full screen.
    • Use command line option --wipe-free-space to wipe the free space in a path.
    • In the preferences, toggle the "hide irrelevant cleaners." It should retrigger a re-scan only when closing the dialog, not when toggling.
    • In the preferences, try the new dark mode.
    • In the preferences, try the new option for debug logging.
    • Application startup should be much faster.
    • Scanning for files should be much faster. This might be most noticable in application startup, preview, deep scan, and when deleting many small files.
    • Mangle the bleachbit.ini configuration file and start BleachBit. It should notify you that the file was reset.
    • Test these cleaners with significant changes: aMule, FileZilla, Firefox, Flash, Internet Explorer, Midnight Commander, Opera, Silverlight, VIM, VLC, Vuze, Windows Defender, WinRAR.
    Windows
    • Overwrite files on a network drive (issue 338).
    • Select many files to shred (issue 348)..
    • Watch for encoding errors (issues 328, 451, 567, and others).
    • Clean symlinks in the recycle bin (issue 385).
    • Mark a file read-only, and then shred it.
    Linux
    • Verify it does not delete the Bluetooth daemon directory (issue 572).
    • Test new distributions: Debian 10 and Ubuntu 19.04.
