What do people think of the chrome browser? i cannot get a certain site https://www.rte.ie/player/
to work on firefox or ie.

I might try chrome but is it a privacy risk or any risk. i do not know much about chrome and stay away from google as much as possible. i use open source apps from f droid on my phone.

EDIT:I tried vivaldi browser .it plays the ads but the programme says this protected content cannot be played on this browser or similar words

Chrome is arguably the most secure browser. If security is your number one priority, use Chrome.
However, there are privacy concerns, due to its ownership by Google. If privacy is your number one priority, don't use Chrome.

You are not a "person of Interest" with tons of secrets and sensitive infos, dont follow the privacy fools that believe the govs and companies are after their little worthless datas...
Use what is more convenient to you.
If it is Chrome, just use it.

The problem I see is, majority of people that complain about privacy concerns regarding a tool, those people are the ones who're mostly using Windows, and even worse Windows 10.

I read about chromium. How secure is that? Is the only difference between chrome and chromium the lack of privacy?

If you had super sensitive info, you probably wouldn't ask for guidance on a web forum. You'd ask the organization you work for for guidance.

The problem with Chromium is the tardy security updates. Chrome is always ahead on that. You might be left in the lurch for a while, if you use Chromium, because an exploit actively used in the wild might not have been patched yet on Chromium. That fact makes me prefer Chrome.

The same problem plagues all chromium-based browsers to a more or less extent. Google Chrome is where the money is; they offer bug bounties and maintain a whole staff of top programmers. Everyone else is trailing behind them. AFAIK.

It will be interesting to see how Edge will stack up to Chrome, seeing as Edge will also have a staff of top programmers with high bug bounties.

none where privacy would be a major concern.
If you had high value datas, any serious organization would only let you access them on a secured device with pre-installed and secured softwares.
You won't have to ask if Chrome is worth to use because you wouldn't be allowed to install anything on it.

Let me ask you, what is your smartphone OS?
