Separate in their respective dedicated sandbox then.

Not possible, because I sometimes use "the open with Vivaldi" command from within Opera. This means that Vivaldi runs as a child process of Opera 12.

Forgot to add my graphics processor as there was discussion about whether the on-board graphics was a possible contributor to the SBIE2101 error messages when opening latest Chrome. The driver version is 417.71 (Jan. 2019).

After reading what more advanced users thought of running Chrome in Sandboxie, I opted to ditch trying to make it work, particularly since getting these unusual BITS-triggered warnings even after removing Chrome. Chrome, for a short period of time, ran in Sandboxie better than any other browser-- it was almost like Sbie wasn't there. But that changed with the latest Chrome version. I tried a lot of tricks but ultimately, what the developer repeatedly said on the Sbie forum: Chrome just isn't the best idea for Sandboxie, it seems. I will be interested to see what works when the next version of Chrome comes out though, so still willing to try.

Edit: not the best wording, sorry about that. These were random comments related to Chrome's updates causing problems. NB: I've been running Firefox off and on in Sandboxie for a couple of years, it's a very nice combination. :) Plus, there are hardware-related errors that compound the issue for me. Best for me to leave it for another time Chrome-wise. @bo elam

@plat1098 that the problem with Sbie. It can't keep up with code changes of apps, it must run after them, it is not a bug, it is just how Sbie is designed.

Reason why some diehard users rather limit their choice of apps to those working with it.

I personally also use another sandbox app that doesn't has such issues, it doesn't needs frequent updates to keep isolating all my up-to-date softs, Chrome included.

Thanks very much for info, bo elam. Couldn't make it work out so switched to Firefox. All is good for the time being.

Yes, totally understood, guest. No matter what the browser, it's going to run sandboxed. Still a little letdown but I'm over it. :)

Just wait for the fix then. Reason why I don't use Sbie on my prod machine, but only on my leisure one where I don't need to update softs right away.

Hi plat1098, If this messages are from SandboxieBITS.exe, thats nothing new. For next time you run Chrome sandboxed, the solution (not always, but usually works) is not to enable Drop rights in Sandbox settings. You dont enable DR, you dont get those messages. The messages are triggered by the Chrome updating process that takes place while running sandboxed. Read here.

Um, does "sneak past sandboxes" refer to Sandboxie.

Other than in the headline no mentioning of any sandboxes in the whole document :D

In a recent spam campaign observed by Mimecast, attached Word attachments contained a hidden exploit for an older vulnerability in Microsoft Equation Editor (CVE-2017-11882). On unpatched systems, the exploit unfolded to drop a new variant of Java JACKSBOT, a remote access backdoor that infects its target only if Java is installed.

Sounds like unpatched system+java+word internet access is needed.

Why would i put word in a sandbox with permanent internet access?

I doubt he is directly or indirectly referring to Sandboxie in particular. As I see it, he is talking about security programs in general, and that, includes sandboxes.

Great observation. Running MS Office in its own sandbox with settings tailored for MS Office (Sandbox settings including no internet access), and Deleting contents is likely all that's required from SBIE to handle that threat.

Um, did you try Direct Access to 'places.sqlite'
    4867.png | 4869.png
Based on Firefox > places.sqlite is bookmarks
May not need places.sqlite-shm or places.sqlite-wal
Just a guess. I do not run Basilisk.

Thanks, man. I appreciate your words. They made it a sticky at the Sandboxie forum, and also placed the article in Announcements.

A few days ago, I wrote this post (link below) on NoScript for someone at tenforums, perhaps you like to read it. In a nutshell, the post is about making sense of NoScript. I think is a quality post. Someone in private, called it a mini tutorial.

    Hi
I have Sandboxie, Cent and Basilisk browser installed on D:. When i run the browsers as is - it works fine. When i run Basilisk sandboxed it works but it do not work with Cent. Cent gets no internet. I get error message from S-boxie saying; can not connect to s-boxie service.

I have no clue how to fix this and the advices on the net is not helping much. Anyone get an idèa?
Both browsers are installed exe`s on the latest W10 64.
