Yeah, in the US that is. In the Eastern European countries for example, income is 1/4 of US' , and prices for many things like computer components phones etc. are 1.3X if not more, basically anything that's not rent food and other essential stuff. In my country specifically, you're literally encouraged to pirate, if you buy things legally (related to computer stuff such as software), you're likely very rich (10X and above) compared to the avg citizen

I agree. This is why this is an ongoing issue. You have to be able to understand the problem before you can come up with a solution. So far the industry fails.

There are alternatives for OSes, utility programs and so on. Unfortunately there is no or little alternative for movies, music and rest of access to culture. Actually even if somebody wants to buy movies, even they are subjectively more expensive for them, they may encounter geoblockades which prevent buying content or access to legally operating streaming services.

Indeed. I have all software freeware and games on steam, but as for movies, I have some DVDs (where I am forced to watch 10 mins of ADs), but I am not interested in buying every single movie in the world. Streaming services like netflix are severely limited. I do not even have TV, so I am willing to pay, but there is no one to pay to. On a piracy webpage I search a movie/TV show, click to play and that is it, flawless. Then there is a joke called youtube movies. I wanted to buy some movies there, but they sell mostly localized (terrible dubbing). I still can not believe that such a nonsense is allowed in 21st century. Though maybe Amazon movies will change it eventually.

Sure, but they suxx. I won't use Gimp over photoshop, I, won't use Libreoffice over MS Office.

    Exactly.

About movies and music, even if i had the money to buy, I won't unless the quality become has an higher standard.
Buy a music album and you end up with 10 of the 12 songs being poor fillers.
Buy a movie, unless it is a super blockbuster, you won't watch it twice.

About softwares, some are way overpriced that they deserve being pirated. Few deserve their price.

Streaming services, they limit the catalog they offer based on the country citizen average income... You can't pay as much as western countries, so we "pity" you and make you pay less but you will have less songs available.

Thanks them to give piracy huge credit.
