The "big leap" appears to be limited to improved management of the Enterprise Edition.

My Emsisoft sub expires in the next couple of weeks and I'm disappointed to see that there is no longer a loyalty discount for renewal. I'm also unhappy that the sub turns into auto renew without any option I can see to turn that off.

If I'm right and haven't missed something obvious then it's goodbye Emsisoft.

Thanks. But it's too late now. This "feature" plus the lack of a loyalty discount and the horrible UI introduced recently means I've fallen out of love with Emsisoft.
I won a licence for Kaspersky Internet Security here at Christmas so that's now installed in its place.

  14. I manage several family members security and use Emsisoft on all of them. Very disappointing that the loyalty discount is gone.

He says in that thread and I quote.

I never got a email about using the old discount nor did any of my family members. Show the email that was sent. How many people received the email? When was it sent?

Please...... Don't make excuses for looking to cut costs and increase profits. Thanks for alienating loyal users who stuck by you for years and this is the thanks we get.

Why would you pay 35 euro's for Emsisoft when you can pick up a Kaspersky Total Security key of eBay for 6 euro's.

Neither did I! It's interesting that the comment from Emsisoft you quoted mentions the "few affected customers" which tells me that Emsisoft's churn rate must be high.

Also received no email but that doesn't change the fact that Emsi provides top-notch protection. :)

I have a 3 PC license for EMSI but at the moment I use it only on my main PC. On the others, after a format, I didn't reinstall EMSI and thus far NO issues with Ransom Ware / Virus etc with the standard Win 10 defender. Also on my main PC the Detected Malware Object is always at 0, so instead of renewing EMSI (after hearing all of this) I will go the Windows 10 Defender route with Sandboxie (life time license) ERP and HitmanPro (On demand (free license))

You may not have received that email in October either because your license was not due for renewal within 12 months, or because your license wasn't registered to a user account with a working email address, or because your renewal would have the same or even a lower price with the new changed price list. We essentially gave all customers a chance to renew a last time for 1-3 years using the old discounted pricing.

Note that at the same time when we ended the renewal discounts, the annual price of EAM Home was reduced from USD/EUR 39.95 to 29.99. So for the majority of users our software got cheaper by the change.

The changes basically reflect the 'service' nature of the product. We consider ourselves as SaaS providers and therefore believe in a flat annual pricing that doesn't change year by year.

Our systems generally don't allow renewing licenses that don't expires within the next 12 months. We had a number of customers who bought renewals for like 10 years in advance, which we thought would be unethical to sell, as nobody knows how the product, Emsisoft or the entire security software landscape will look like so far into the future. Which is also part of the reason why we never offered lifetime licenses either.

I hear your frustration, but please let's keep in mind that price changes are part of the business game for every company and to be expected at any time, no matter the reasons. If the current pricing turns out to be unsustainable to run our company and we have to raise it one day, you can either live with it or jump ship. That's obviously up to you to decide whether the product meets your requirements and is worth the price or not. But at the end of the day it's our decision alone how much we charge for our product, not someone else's. In this case the numbers were clear that a 25% lower first year price helps us more than the increasing loyalty discounts, which is why we implemented that step.

  22. Let's be honest, you don't care about loyal customers who have helped you grow and build your brand on forums like these. You also only sent renewal emails to those people who had less than a year to go on their license. That is not "everyone" or "all" like you said. Why not offer it to everyone? I'm sure you did the number's on license's and chose the route that would save and make you the most money. That's fine and up to you, but you have alienated some loyal users who have been with you for years. And there would be less than 10 people in the world who would of got 10+ year licenses so using that as an example is misleading and a joke, and you obviously know that.

Question is what are we going to get for increased prices and paying more per year? Not much is seems, I guess Emsisoft must of sank a lot of money in the new gui they rolled out. If you are going to ask users to pay more then you have to justify it with more value/benefits. Are we getting any new features in the future? New capabilities?

Business is business, and in business "nothing is true, all is permitted" :argh:

More seriously, new users will pay less, which is the goal of every companies, increase customer base.
Those who may pay more than before are those with high loyalty rates. What they will get?
A good thank you, and the honor of having contributed to the company development, and maybe in the future their name on the Emsi wall of fame :p

It is what it is, it's not as if you can't cancel! :D

I would like to see a cancel option in the Emsissoft License Centre though, don't see that?
