OK I've researched on wilders and just have some simple Qs: Does Windows 10 and Edge mine my personal files? Would there be a way to block that using a network or on the same pc/system? I use Sandboxie but recently FF has been auto refreshing on all systems, hosing my history and bookmarks. So far FF's Sync wants to integrate w/my phone. I want it to save history & bookmarks or just Sync w/ my other boxes. Not pleased w/FF support solutions up to this point. Not sure I want to use Edge but I'm jumping to W10 this weekend w/a system rebuild. Learning commands for Linux is going to take longer. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks, Mac
Hi Mac. A couple of random comments. One, Edge is not compatible with Sandboxie. but Sandboxing Firefox works great in W10. Two, I never used the sync settings so I dont know how well sync works with Sandboxie but when you say that Firefox has lately been auto refreshing, thats what users usually say when they haven't ticked the option in Sandbox settings to save bookmarks and history out of the sandbox. Usally that happens when a new sandbox is created, reinstalled SBIE, etc. So, check your Sandbox settings related to what you want to allow out of the sandbox. Bo
For many reasons, including the ones you've mentioned, I've not browsed from my host for 5 years now. I'd recommend using a set of virtual machines to do your browsing, and in particular, you can give the guests as much or as little filesystem access as you want. You can also use W10 as a guest in suitable VM software, though licensing needs to be observed. Modern Linux systems are not a big learning curve or UI shock depending on distribution if you only use them for browsing.
