Hi Trooper we only did this to the initial users. But we can extend this to you as well. Just purchase on the site with the coupon and pm me your real name so we can flag the order on the system for the upgrade. Remember though the Enterprise is only useful if you have multiple licenses because it provides a consolidated view of all endpoints for you in one place.
Darren, At present if for any reason I have to reboot the desktop (ie: after an install) the counter for the Advertising and Profiling blocks are reset to Zero. Would it be possible have these figures survive a reboot? Looking forward to the Android version and v4 for windows
I don't know if I've missed it or not but it would be useful to be able to use a wild card in detected changes to whitelisted command lines. Here's an example that crops up every time Opera updates (three times this morning!): "Prevented execution of C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Programs\Opera\58.0.3135.65\opera.exe using rule C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Loca...etc"
That's actually built-in already. The enterprise edition allows exactly that. I will see if we can expose that to the client in the next minor update so that you can use that feature. In the mean time we will update the rules for you. Give us 24 hours to apply the rules to exclude programs installed into the roaming location.
actually this is one of the few software that interest me, however how you plan on stopping whole dark web communication (sending out) is beyond me, I think its not fully possible? if I run legitimate spyware software like Windows Defende will blackfog prevent microsoft from seeing my stuff (software installed, personal files)? or any other AV company and the like any chance there will be a permanent license at higher fee? (I know its the general trend but I hate annual/monthly plans, they discard buying a priori for me, I like the idea of owning stuff) anyway big fan of what you are doing
Many thanks Darren. I looked in the enterprise dashboard but I couldn't see any options to edit the reported log entries.
Faircot... when you open the Enterprise console navigate to Settings > Global and w=you will see sections for both Roaming and Local. You would enter something like "\Programs\Opera\*\opera.exe". But we have now covered this scenario for you so it should automatically work in 24 hours without adding anything. Lucd... yes it is possible to block the Dark Web as you will see when you try with BlackFog running. We do allow you to block as much as you would like with MS. However, we recommend you do in fact run Defender as an additional layer. It works hand in hand with BlackFog. We will prevent a high proportion of the leaking that goes on in terms of privacy. You raise an interesting question regarding price. The problem that we face is that there is a lot of monthly costs to run all the servers we do to manage all the rules and infrastructure.... and they charge us monthly as well. We feel that it is important that we are pushing out new rules at a high frequency to keep you protected, so that's part of what the subscription model is about. On a personal note, I also like owning software, but after grappling with Adobe and Office 365 subscriptions and the great service and regular updates they provide I am happy to pay yearly for this, instead of the 1 to 2 year cycles that leave my constantly behind.
Faircot... Please click update in the help menu to pull the new rules. Should work wither opera in that location from now on.
I have ordered (and paid, with 'wilder' discount) for a BlackFog Privacy Desktop 1 year (1 computer) license, so $26.25. But I see it is an auto-renew subscription (with no option to turn that off) at the standard price of $35. I must say, I really dislike auto-renew (rather than a renew reminder) as the onus is on the customer to cancel. Will there be a 'wilder' discount next year, and if so one would then have to cancel and reorder using that?
Note we have just released BlackFog 3.7 with some notable performance tweaks and some important plumbing for the 4.0 release and the new UI coming in summer this year. Complete release notes available in the Change Log on main web site.
There's no longer any GUI when I check for updates since that last version. Is this expected behaviour now? There is no indication anything is happening at all anymore.
Correct. Only with the enterprise key, because corporations want to control the update centrally. It will update for you though you just won't see anything like the release notes as before.
In the e console make sure Settings > Global > Auto Update is on. Then in 4 hrs or less it will automatically update for you. You can also select update from the Help menu to do it right away (provided the option in console is enabled). It should take a few minutes to do the work in the background.
Darren, Auto Update is enabled on the console but checking for updates in the Help Menu did not install the update. I have manually downloaded and updated now though.
I did manage to update but now my BFP Help>About shows v3.7.0, but if I go to the Enterprise Console the 'i' icon still shows 3.6.2 with last changes on 1st Feb ... is that correct?
That just the release number of the console. It will be updated soon, they are not necessarily in sync.
I'd like to know more about how blackfog stops otugoing connections , have been any test to see if malware can easily tamper with it, will it strip personal information on trusted outgoind connections, like microsoft spying? or programs' telemetry what you do with personal info and on what server is it stored? what av/firewall was tested for best compatibility with this? which one is know to be incompatible? what's your experience? I also don't like autorenoval default on, last time Norton (only way to stop this was to login on norton site) has done that and I never used it again If this was already answered then I apology best
