Good evening, I have a question about Shadow Defender:
on my PC with Windows-7Pro 64bit is still installed version 1.4.0.578 of Shadow Def. and has always worked
perfectly and impeccably!.....do you think I should update to the latest version or still keep the 1.4.0.578 ??
My friend says that the recent versions of SD are optimized for Windows10, but does not change anything
    on Win7....perhaps they work worse!
    I await your suggestions

Look at the changelog and there are some important fixes/improvements perhaps not related solely to W10:

Update and see if it works for you otherwise go back to 1.4.0.578

Have to agree with @Mr.X. if your current version is proven to been performing without issue or other, unless you can really see the new version beneficial, the one you have will just keep on working as expected for you. I also use 1.4.0.578 and have had zero complaint, in fact since SD very first came out there's never been any issue whatsoever for my units-Windows 8.1 x64 and before that XP.

    Thanks guys for the suggestions,
I will follow your advice to update SD and if problems occur then I will go back to version 1.4.0.578......however I think to not install
the latest version available, but a less recent version like 1.4.0.665, which is perhaps more "suitable" for win7...

another thing: is possible to run the update directly (overwrite) or i need to uninstall the current version first?

You can install the new version over the currently installed version. Then reboot after the installation of the new version.
