    @bjm_

I setup a W10 x64 vm, it worked. Not in W8.1 x64, neither vm nor pm.
    Do you use W10?

That setting usually is not found in sandboxie.ini
Your test worked out cause you are on W10 and there's no issue to run the portable on W10 but W8.1

Anyone else getting this sandboxie error upon launching Chrome 72?

    SBIE2101 Object name not found: \BaseNamedObjects\IGFXKMDNotifyBatchBuffersComplete, error OpenEvent (C0000022) access=001F0003 initialized=1
    SBIE2101 Object name not found: \BaseNamedObjects\IGFXKMDNotifyBatchBuffersComplete, error OpenEvent (C0000022) access=001F0003 initialized=1
    SBIE2101 Object name not found: \BaseNamedObjects\IGFXKMDNotifyBatchBuffersComplete, error OpenEvent (C0000022) access=001F0003 initialized=1

It's happening on 3 of four of my laptops since updating to Chrome 72. The only difference between the OK machine & the three getting the error is that the non-problem machine runs Win 10 Pro, and the 3 problem machines run Windows 10 Home. All four have different graphics drivers too. Everything else is identical on all 4 machines.

Once you close the error you can use chrome as normal, but it crashes if you try and check the version via the menu > Help > About Google Chrome. So as errors go, it's not a huge deal.

I have posted in the Sandboxie forum on a thread about it, but the support person so far hasn't been able to reproduce or find a common factor. Anyone else experiencing the same?

Are all the machines with the problem using Intel Graphics?

Yes, same exact thing. Currently trying out the Sbie beta 5.27.3 version. Doesn't show the Sbie 2101 error at the moment but time will tell. Windows 10 17763.292/Chrome 72.03636.81/Sandboxie 5.27.3 Chrome error when you click on "about Chrome" also.

NVIDIA GPU with driver version 417.35 (December) One silent issue is that the Chrome updating mechanism is dinging my Samsung M.2 driver, causing a spam of WHEA Logger corrected warnings in event viewer. I had to turn off the two Chrome updater services because of all the BITS errors running Chrome in Sandboxie. Overall, though, functionality is unaffected, Chrome runs great in Sandboxie, but those errors, maybe I'm overly impatient but I simply cannot stand them. I have to change things around Sandboxie- and/or browser-wise to eliminate them.

Thank you for the input plat1098. I had been going off the error output (while trying to imagine the meanings of IGFXKMD without being able to reproduce) and had settled on I=Intel and GFX=Graphics and KMD = Kernel Mode Driver. [Don't Ask - I'm silly like that ] Add to that my inabilty to reproduce the issue live (and lack of desire to try further in VMs) I'm sorry but I must say I have no other ideas at this point.

    =( GoodLuck ALL!

    Hey thanks for responding.

@syrinx - They all run Intel Graphics, including the one that isn't having a problem. The one that isn't having a problem is running Intel UHD Graphics 630 + N-Videa Quadro P600.
One of the three problem machines has N-Videa GEFORCE GTX980M graphics, but it also has native Intel HD Graphics 530. The other two Intel HD Graphics 515, and Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640.

@plat1098 - I tried updating from Sandboxie 5.27.1 to 5.27.3 on two of the problem machines, but it made no difference. All four computers have identical windows settings, identical (default) Sandboxie settings, and identical extensions and configurations of Chrome 72. Disabling all extensions makes no difference. Two run MBAM Pro + Avast free, and two run MBAM Pro + Windows Defender. All have up-to-date everything and run v1809 build 17763.292. So the Pro versus Home version of Win 10, and the graphics drivers are the only thing that sets them apart. plat1098 - would you check your Chrome to see if you have hardware acceleration enabled? Apparently that does stop the SBIE2101 error on launching, but it doesn't stop the problem with checking the chrome version. I have hardware acceleration enabled on the non-problem machine, and can check the version with no issues on that using Sandboxie 5.27.1.

Sorry for delayed response. I'd removed Chrome after my first post due to the recurrent SBIE2101 error, continued errors in event viewer involving my M.2 drive and BITS, and some abnormally high CPU usage on a couple of websites. I reinstalled it to test a little after reading the above but the SBIE2101 did not recur this time around--I think something specific triggers it but what? I didn't touch the hardware acceleration b/c I removed Chrome again due to the other issues. Firefox runs in Sandboxie error-free at this time. I've had to repair my Samsung driver three-four times now so it's best to back off from running Chrome in Sbie until further notice.

My response is not helpful but the thread on Sandboxie's forum regarding this issue says it all. Yes, this arose from the latest Chrome version. I use Windows Defender at defaults with NVT OSArmor. Three extensions which, like you stated yourself, made no difference whether enabled or not.

W10 + SBIE users, if you have the time to learn, I believe it's time to try ReHIPS...

rehips is no sandbox. but if that would mean you wont write here any more that could be a benefit.

ReHIPS is a sandbox...I hope you didn't deduct this affirmation only based on the software names? :isay:

Why? Sandboxie is working great in W10. I think you are in W8.1, so you are not experiencing SBIE in W10 every day doing the things you do in a daily basis. But I am, and I am not seeing any issues whatsoever. There is no reason for switching from Sandboxie to something else. If there were many issues with SBIE today, and more so if they were not being taken care of, I ll say OK, its time to try something different but not now.

Right this moment, there is a problem with the recently released version of Chrome. Something changed in Chrome that brought a new issue, and Sandboxie will react by developing a fix. Thats no big deal, it has happen before. I think SBIE developers spend more time fixing issues with Chrome than with any other software, its been like that forever. After the fixing of compatibility issues with W10, Chrome is next.

If I was using Chrome today, I would see if the messages can be hidden. According to what I read from users having the issue, Chrome works fine after closing the message. So, for usability, comfort, I would try hiding the message, most of the time, they can be hidden and wont come back. So, they wont bother you. And wait for the fix.

    Bo

For me it's not about the time. I refuse to pay 56€ for rehips when i can use sandboxie for free. (Like you got a lifetime for rehips i got one for sandboxie)
If they got a similar price like sandboxie for yearly i could think about it. But 56€ vs 0€ or (18€ if i had to pay) is a easy choice for me :D
