I'm glad to see we're finally back to Linux distros. Socratic Irony is a new one to me, is it based on Ubuntu?
We are still learning from Mother, https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/fa-removes-super-white-army-13654199. Emotive use of 'hate' for no reason worms its way to racism accusations - gotta luv the internet! Happy Kubuntu user here, but MX-17 looks worth a punt.
Have you actually read that link? I don't know about accusations of racism, it was probably my 'dry, laconic' sense of humour. All of us British people have it. It's the law I think. I'm staying with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS until they pry it out of my cold dead hands. Or until April 2021 lol.
Of course not! I'm engaged in an internet discussion. MX-17 isn't LTS, by the looks of it. Would an upgrade to MX-18 happen automatically or do you need to start from scratch?

Well, that would explain a lot. 'A spokesman for Tranmere Rovers Supporters’ Club told the BBC they didn’t know why the banner had been covered and that “Super White Army” referred to the team’s shirts - but fans have speculated it could have been due to fears the banner could have been seen as racist. “I thought I saw something missing on Tuesday night whilst watching the match on TV but couldn’t put my finger on it, but it was that the SWA banner was removed by order of the FA. “Bloody daft, everyone who would watched the match most likely would have some knowledge that Tranmere fans are known as the SWA” However another user said: “I suspect the banner was removed because it is Tranmere-specific (for want of a better phrase) and therefore at odds with it being an England home venue.' ~ op cit "We are still learning from Mother" So, what did Mom teach you? Personally, I only use Linux LTS releases. IMO the advantages outweigh any disadvantages.
To be polite, of course. And to read other sources, https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...e-army-banner-removed-tranmere-rovers-stands/. It seems some of Lucy's followers thought it was racist. Not a Trani-meir fan? Lloegyr - what statement are you making about yourself, out of interest? Welsh speaker living in England? Just wondered.
Of course. Ah yes, the Telegraph; that bastion of truth, probity, integrity and honest unbiased non-sensationalised journalism. I take it the Russia Today site is down? Well, I am a Baglor yn y Celfyddydau after all.
I've downloaded the MX-17 X65 iso but can't use Startup Disk Creator to create a bootable usb. It won't allow me to choose the MX-17 iso - I can select and click open but the 'source disk image' remains blank. Any ideas?
MA, MBA, PhD, CDipAF, but who's counting. At 56 I'm too old for the playground. I will admit that my PhD isn't in engineering - if it were I would be impressed with myself.
I downloaded the Kubuntu iso again and that was seen by SDC and created a bootable usb. There's something about MX-17 SDC doesn't like. I'm stumped!
You might have better luck with Rufus. It worked great for me on MX-18, which I would recommend over MX-17, simply because 18 is latest.
Maybe check the md5sum? I agree with trying MX-18. I think the official site should have already switched to 18. https://mxlinux.org/wiki/system/iso-download-mirrors
