Can we? Yes we Kate! Indeed, here be a short tutorial showing how to make the Kate text editor more productive, with better open document tab management using plugins, search & replace, some other tips and tricks, and more. Have fun. https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/plasma-kate-more-productive.html Cheers, Mrk
I've been using Kate for quite awhile now. The Plasma 5 version is missing a plugin I really liked that allowed inserting a file at cursor location. Aside from that, I enjoy using Kate. I have a few plugins enabled (Document switcher, Documents, Project Plugin, Search and Replace and Terminal tool review). Search and Replace is an awesome tool in my opinion. I use Kate mostly for editing bash scripts, syntax, auto completion and folding works as expected. I an not a fan of some of the border options though such as Show text preview or Scrollbar mini map. You can also add definitions for file extensions per file type, in my case most of my bash scripts end with *.SlackBuild. Another feature I like is split views.
Got to fire that proof reader.... LOL. Should read "I really liked that allowed inserting a file at cursor location." Fix in my post above.
