How practical is it to roll back to 7.2.3906? I can restore an image (assuming it does not BSoD on the restore) but I'd rather not have to re-do everything else I've changed since Friday.

I have been having too many issues with Macrium Reflect lately.
I left the recovery environment on my boot menu and my flash drive, but uninstalled the software itself.
It means I can only make full images, and even that only when I exit Windows, but at least my computer works.

If you can, submit a ticket at helpdesk.macrium.com, otherwise email support at macrium dot com. If the dump is large, they’ll send you an FTP link you can upload it to.

You can make Diff and Inc images in Rescue, albeit in a non-obvious way. Go to the Restore tab, add the folder containing your backups to the “Folders to search” list if you haven’t already, then select the backup you want to append to underneath, and click More Options > Create Differential/Incremental. I once had a discussion with someone on the Macrium forums who used this method exclusively even in Windows because he was averse to the idea of creating a definition file.

If you can get the installer, should be a simple uninstall and reinstall.

The (1) is probably because a file with the same base name already exists in the actual folder that stores the XML files even though for some reason it’s not listed in Reflect anymore. Try just importing the original file into Reflect again by clicking the green plus icon. The default location for definition files is under your \Documents\Reflect in your user profile folder.

If it's a licensed BOOT menu entry, you can make any image type you wish using the "Other actions" LINK under the RESTORE TAB.

BSoD issue with 3954 now has a thread on the Macrium forums here. It seems that both affected users in that thread are on Win10 1809. Is that the case for you, @xxJackxx, @silver0066, and @shmu26?

I'm running Macrium 6 and have done so for quite a while. During the special sale a couple weeks ago, I bite the bullet and purchased V 7. I have yet, however, to install it. I'm just seeing too many issues reported here to make the leap. MR runs like a champ and has for a very long time. I'm nervous about changing anything at this point. Here I sit with a new V 7 license and I'm not sure when I'm going to use it....

Fwiw, most of the serious issues have revolved around CBT. If you don't need it, or at least don't mind your backups taking a bit longer so that the "Looking for changes" routine can be performed, then choosing not to install CBT could save you some headaches. On my systems I still don't have CBT installed because that routine doesn't take very long, so I decided that the benefit didn't justify the potential for issues in that case. I try to keep things as simple as is reasonable to achieve my goals, rather than going to any lengths to "optimize" things as much as possible. Looking over the notes of the last several Reflect releases, almost all of the non-CBT issues have been fairly minor and/or only occurred in relatively uncommon scenarios.

    Thanks 1PW.

Could you please edit your post to avoid the smiley in the quote?
The culprit is the combination of the characters 8 and )
Use the plain tags or put a space between those two characters.
    So not 1809 (18290/:cool: but 1809 (18290/8) or 1809 (18290/8 )
    Thanks ;)

FWIW, to boost that theory I had no BSoDs but I am on Win 10 v1803.

How do you usually run your backups?

Because my backups are slow Macrium tells me I should run in a clean boot environment to prevent antivirus software from interfering. Is that really necessary?

(Windows Defender and HitmanPro.Alert are the only resident software; I have MBAM installed for on-demand scans)

So the free version is also free of BSODS? Sounds like a good deal to me...

Probably because there's no CBT? Sounds like a CBT and 1809 interaction to me ...

yes, CBT seems to be involved here (maybe with the complicity of some security setup)...

Anyway, to be sure you have to send dump file to MR support so that they can carefully analyze it...

(as usaual, sorry for my poor english)

    Hello Fanj:

Excellent catch! That's what I get for trusting a copy/paste and no proof reading. I took your suggestion with BBCode Tags. Thank you for having my back.
