Dear IVPN subscriber, Starting today you can use our VPN service with WireGuard, a revolutionary VPN protocol that promises better security and faster speeds compared to existing solutions. Please be aware that WireGuard is still under heavy development and at this stage we only recommend using it for testing purposes and in situations where security is not critical. To ensure your security our Wireguard VPN servers are completely separate from our OpenVPN servers. Access to IVPN's WireGuard servers is already activated for your account. You can connect to them through the latest versions of our Android, iOS and macOS apps or the native WireGuard implementation on Linux. This protocol is not supported on Windows at this point. It takes just a few simple steps to start testing: 1. Follow our simple setup guides 2. Connect to one of our WireGuard servers 3. Send us feedback by writing to wireguard@ivpn.net You can read more about our launch and WireGuard in general in our announcement blog post or a coverage by ArsTechnica. If you have any questions or need assistance with setting up WireGuard please review the FAQ or simply reply to this email, our team will get back to you as soon as possible. Regards, Nick Pestell, CEO & the IVPN Team Robert P.S. Thoughts, mirimir.
Thanks, excellent news and I like the approach to key exchange to the clients. Will test for sure. I get that it's under development, but frankly, my attitude would be that's a good thing overall and the sooner everyone switches to it the better - given the alternatives, the effort is much better spent on Wireguard. A bit more industry knowledge and robust key management and we're good, no?
All valid insights, deBoetie. My knowledge about WireGuard is, at most, elementary...have to do my homework! mirimir and others will hopefully, give their viewpoints. Especially since mirimir is waiting for an IVPN client interface for Linux. Robert.
Well I am waiting!! As Mirimir, I can do everything that I need. My family CANNOT and I don't want to be their slave all the time. For now I limit them to AirVpn for that one specific reason. I am not comparing IVPN or AIR because I trust them both. I use both. It took me a couple of years to get them on linux but that is because I configured and setup a simple client for the VPN. I even locked the machine to AIR only. They can't go online anywhere without the AIR connection. Would be nice if I could do the same with IVPN. Again, not for me but for them. If IVPN is reading along here know there are lots that want their friends/family to be safe.
