What is Mailvelope and how does it work?
Mailvelope is an extension for your browser (in Firefox it is called an "Add-On", in Chrome an "Extension") and it expands the functionality of your web-browser. Mailvelope offers email encryption with PGP for the Firefox and Chrome browsers.

If you've been using a webmail provider, you can send encrypted emails with the help of Mailvelope using the same provider and the same email address.
The provider's user interface in the browser now contains the additional Mailvelope component. This ensures that your sensitive information remains inaccessible to your webmail provider

With the new version 3.0 [...] Mailvelope is extended by two completely new possible applications. In addition to e-mails, form data can now also be transmitted end-to-end encrypted in the Web. Apart from that, the connection to GnuPG offers increased security and flexibility.
GnuPG Integration
With the GnuPG integration, we are now able to address also those users who were skeptical about the use of cryptography in browsers: As of version 3.0, a locally installed GnuPG application (e.g. Ggp4win or GPGTools) can also be integrated into Mailvelope.
Encrypted Web Forms
Mailvelope now offers the possibility to define forms in a certain format so that the data can only be read by a selected recipient.
Update of OpenPGP.js
[...] Mailvelope thus receives support for the ECC (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) encryption method.

Wow, didn't know about this one, seems interesting. I don't really need it, but seems like cool technology.
