From now on I'll use the Media Creation Tool. I've used it with 1809 and the ISO is around 1 GB smaller.

    Oh. Weird. Why?
I wish I knew why the MCT wouldn't download on my PC. But my guess is it either uses a weird port that is forbidden or its ... some destruction I caused with one of these privacy tools. It's the only symptom of it though.

When Win10 was released a few years ago the MCT didn't work for me so I've since downloaded the ISOs. But the MCT now works fine.

Do you have a second computer to try the MCT?

For the moment I still have the repaired laptop. I'm gonna test it... yea, works fine there.
EDIT: It connects to my Router so it has the same port-limitations. That means the issue is something with my windows and the culprit is probably BlackViperScript or something similiar.

1809 was my first 10 upgrade that I ended up having problems with. I have been upgrading every other major update with a clean install in between, but I'm changing that. I went back to 1803 and I'm deferring feature updates for a year. One clean install per year and no upgrades on a machine is plenty for me anyway. Twice a year is more than I care to deal with.

This was/is a known bug in 1803, but the issue is now fixed in 1809.
With WIM ISO you can use DISM commands to extract only the version you need (Pro i.e.) and create a custom esd (or wim) file. Here's a guy explaining it nicely in Method 1. After that, you only need to replace the files in the 'sources' folder on the installation media (the formats are interchangeable) and you're good to go.
The MCT downloaded ISO uses esd archive format (instead of wim) which allows much higher compression rates.
It uses https protocol. Did you 'unblock' the tool (in file properties) and run it as admin?

Thank you for all the info! :) I saved that link.:thumb:
What do you mean "unblock in file properties"? I guess it always started as admin. Does not fix. It just stays at 0%.

EDIT: Fixed. It wants to connect to a IP that is blocked by Simplewalls Spy-Blocklist.
Typical Microsoft to never actually throw an error about bad connection...

I use simplewall as well but I did not bother with the blacklist as I suspected something like this might happen.

Oh, that thing. Windows has already deleted that zone identifier. Never asked, maybe because it is signed by Microsoft?

The spy list usually doesn't cause any issues.

Seriously this thing is getting out of control. M$ is completely loosing its credibility with this sick urge to collect as much data as possible. I've read that the EU recently has also reprimanded M$ for extensive data collection done by MS Office (can't find the link). It's sickening. :gack:
