I just replaced an old SSD with a Samsung 860 Pro, and I have installed Samsung Magician for a look.
I see that there is a Rapid Mode setting that is currently disabled. Is it worth enabling?

Not really. It causes some problems and you won't actually notice any speed increase.

With v5.3.0.1910, same story as v5.0.0.790 (Rapid mode:"Not Supported"),
or even worse (blank UI options, see the screenshot). o_O

    Back to v.5.2.1.1780

What is the preferred version of Samsiug Magician after it was dumbed down starting with with v500?
I still have v497, but I'm not sure if it's still valid for a recently purchased EVO 860

Today, auto updated (via UI) from v.5.2.1.1780 to v5.3.0.1910. No problems.

    Hello All:

    Note in passing.

Earlier today, Kyle Katarn's SUMo v5.8.10.412 user install base reported the Samsung RAPID executable rp.exe as detecting a version change from v1.0.0.101 to v1.0.1.96 for a couple of users. The file normally is installed at %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Samsung\RAPID\CacheFilter\rp.exe on a 64-bit Windows 10 OS.
A cursory check of Samsung's download page, for Samsung Magician, still shows their ( November, 2018 ) v5.3.0.1910 installer. I am mentioning this here in hopes that perhaps some of Samsung SSD user's negative experiences with RAPID, could be changing. Perhaps this is a beta.

Please allow me to apologize to all if these observations become meaningless drivel on my part.

    HTH

    Thanks 1PW!

    rp.exe v1.0.0.101 here (Windows 10 Pro x64, version 1809 - Build 17763.195).
Also the link to Magician Software Installation Guide/Release Notes still shows the previous version 5.2.1 instead the latest 5.3.0.1910 =

    You're very welcome.

Let's cross our collective fingers for those systems that can't be made to work with Samsung RAPID.

    Thanks anon.
Do you know what has been changed?

As far as I remember the changelog should be nowadays in the Install Guide.
    The file name is Samsung_Magician_5_2_1_Installation_Guide_v2.4.pdf

As far as I can tell at this moment the name hasn't been changed since version 5.3.
The info is the same as for version 5.3:

New Samsung Magician features a number of improvements over version 5.1:
    - New features
 Firmware or Magician update alarm function
 Secure Erase USB bootable solution for NVMe device
 Adopting Diskspd for Performance Benchmark
 Text drag and copy available in System Compatibility
    - Fixed issues
 Compatibility issues with some controllers
 Duplicated notices in System Compatibility
    - Additional information
     Personal information for GDPR

As far as I can tell at this moment those .pdf files are the same with checksums:
    MD5 - ACBD17BD5025619F1ECAF680AE478BDA
    SHA-160 - AA0BD25B2159C1558825FAC527AB844979AA1BEE
