The German Federal Office for Information Security (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI)) has published guidelines for router security. Two links (in German) at the BSI site: Mehr Sicherheit im Smart Home: BSI veröffentlicht Technische Richtlinie für Breitband-Router https://www.bsi.bund.de/DE/Presse/Pressemitteilungen/Presse2018/TR-Router_16112018.html BSI TR-03148 Sichere Breitband Router https://www.bsi.bund.de/DE/Publikationen/TechnischeRichtlinien/tr03148/tr03148_node.html At the moment I think that there are no English versions; I could be wrong though. There is also a .pdf document at the bottom of the article at that second link. That .pdf document is in English: Code: https://www.bsi.bund.de/SharedDocs/Downloads/DE/BSI/Publikationen/TechnischeRichtlinien/TR03148/TR03148.pdf?__blob=publicationFile&v=2 (I hope that I give the right link)
Don't be upset by my reply, BUT, if you checked the link you would have known. PS: I did. It works fine, the text is English. Thanks.
Hi longshots, You're right, of course. Thanks for checking though! I had a bit of a problem to get the link right, and then with the way to post the .pdf link
Two German organisations, Chaos Computer Club (CCC) and OpenWrt, are criticizing those guidelines by the BSI, saying it is not enough. Short comment in English at the OpenWrt site: https://openwrt.org/ Full article in German at the CCC site: CCC und OpenWrt: Technische Richtlinie des BSI zu sicheren Routern unzureichend https://www.ccc.de/en/updates/2018/risikorouter
The Register has an article about it: Germany pushes router security rules, OpenWRT and CCC push back https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/20/germany_versus_openwrt_ccc/
New Press article by BSI, Germany's federal office for Information Security, about it, in German. "Unternehmen unterstützen Technische Richtlinie für Breitband-Router" https://www.bsi.bund.de/DE/Presse/Kurzmeldungen/Meldungen/Akzeptanz-TR-Router_14122018.html The article is saying that Zyxel, Lancom and Deutsche Telekom are supporting the new guidelines.
