After going through yet another computer almost definitively bricked by AVG, I have to say that this software went downhill after Avast took over it.

Thank Avast for ruining a perfectly good product. Will not use again for the foreseeable future.

What are you going to go to? If you don't mind my asking.

    Hi Hammer,

Actually I had already started shifting all our computers from AVG to Bullguard since 2017.

I thought that new updates will make things better, but the latest release bricked a newly bought Acer laptop after extra security features (deep scan, file scan on close, scan all file types) were enabled. That's really, really bad and I have never had a product do this.

Bullguard will become the go-to product for the home, while in the organisation we have successfully done a test run of eScan and found favourable results. But the current IT admin favours Dr.Web, so we'll see about that. :)

I do like VIPRE and F-Secure, but the prices are too high and the distribution channel is weak in my region, so it's difficult to seriously consider these products.

I'd really like to see a product based on AVIRA or Kaspersky tech at a reasonable price and good licensing, but it seems out of the question for now....

I am disappointed in the damage being done to the AVG product by Avast as a customer of AVG since 2006. 10 straight years I used their product till the new Avast based AVG started throwing bugs left and right.

More importantly, I wish to support companies who train and pay people as employees for tech support and not outsource to some hired work BPO in India or Philippines that take rock bottom rate contracts and underpay a low morale staff just so they can win more contracts and deliver a mediocre service....AVG/Avast has now outsourced all tech support to a 3rd party BPO organisation.

just uninstall avg and use something else . i had the paid and still have a few months left but ditched them almost a year ago because they kept not updating and the support kept telling me this was ok. i strongly suggest you to move on.

Hey Firecat, what happened? I had a lot of problems with AVG as well since Avast destroyed it. No offence but Avast should really hire software engineers instead of summer interns. I'm really missing good old AVG. :'(

A brand new laptop and a couple of PCs stopped booting outright after the deep scan options were enabled in AVG's settings. It didn't seem right at all that it would happen on fresh installs of Windows. I was done with it, and I have not touched AVG since. Avast well and truly finished off this brand.

Installed latest version of AVG on my laptop yesterday and it's running fine and really light so far. I won't touch deep scan again. Take care of CyberCapture as well, it's still a beta version. ;)

Installed it on my main machine and its very light, also with browsing the internet, its even lighter than KFA which gives me problems (lag) on certain sites.

CyberCapture is going crazy again, sometimes I think it's more dangerous than malware. :(
