I was still using CCleaner 5.44 but just installed 5.47 without any problems.

I had uninstalled CCleaner, but I didn't like its alternatives. Back to CCleaner Portable (for the time being).

I also decided to stay with portable and blocking it's network connections attempts with firewall.

CCleaner adds itself to Windows Firewall so check this. I use Binisoft’s WFC (Windows Firewall Control) in medium filtering mode. After deleting the rule it made itself it simply does not have internet access. Don’t even need to make a block rule. Also CCleaner comes with like 3-4 files, one of them named update. I deleted that too as I saw it running in task manager even though it can’t do anything but I also don’t need it running. Deleting this file does not affect the functionality of the program in anyway. Also, it likes to add two Avast cookies to the ‘cookies to keep’ section. Delete those. After this CCleaner is good to go like old times before Avast dropped the ball on it. ;)

I use Eset's firewall so it can't add itself to FW exceptions. Portable CCleaner archive doesn't contain CCUpdate file so there is no need to delete it. For me using portable version is most trouble-free option for using this software right now.

Mmm, portable version doesn't seem to be available anymore, at least from CCleaner website.

    Thanks!
That's strange that I don't see the link to the Builds page, from CCleaner's product page though.
But maybe I'm due to change my glasses. :)

You cannot see the link to the builds page from CCleaner products page because they removed it.
So no new glasses needed :)

Yes they really don't want people to know about those download options. I hope that they won't remove it entirely.

After updating to latest portable version I got this notification from ESET's HIPS:

I guess it tries to change some IE proxy settings. Similar to uTorrent it got blocked on my system :)

Comodo Firewall also doesn't like this update.

I agree. Who knows what other behind-the-scenes actions they are adding in new versions.

I just tried your software and then uninstalled it. I want to have control of what is cleaned. Before the cleaning is done, I want to review the list. Your program doesn't appear to do that. Most other cleaners allow the user to check or review the list and then decide if they want continue or not. Plus, I did not find the ability to manually do a restore point.

    Just my 2 cents.

It does, you use 'expert mode', however the list is cumbersome. You can't easily find individual cookies i.e., this is what most users will want to keep.

I rolled my machine back after updating to version 5.48 last week. I did not like the registry activity I was seeing. I don't trust this build.

I have used "Wise Care 365" for several years for general cleaning. It has several facets to its make up.
I use it once a month and I never use the Registry Clean part of it.
Do not mess with the Registry unless you know what your are doing.
There is no use using it on a daily basis as you will be taking out cashes that your computer needs when it starts up if you use it daily and slowing down the start up process.
I always take a "restore" point and "Registry back up" before removing anything. There are facilities in the software's start page, top right corner, right of the "T" shirt motif, "Restore" category.

Always download Wise Care 365 from Wise 365's own website, not from a "mirror" location. I have never found any PUP's doing this method on most web sites. A nice little download checker called" Unchecky" is a useful tool to have and runs 24 / 7 in the background.

Also has a great "Uninstaller" in its tool kit which will clear any residuals left by other cleaners. Some people / forumites will, I am sure have something to say on the subject and consider these types of cleaners as "snake oil", and it has to be said you need to take care with any cleaners . Just pressing a go ahead button is quick, but the results can leave you with problems if you have get it wrong. If you are not sure what the terms are untick the boxes that open up after you have run the search which will tell you what they have found. Mark my words, if you don't, you will be back here asking for help.

It is an American company. I am in no way connected to this Company. It is free, give it a try.
