After being part of Wilders for almost the past 9 years it's always interesting to see the flux of security products as they game and go. Some of them just gain a special place in your heart that while they may not provide the best "Security" anymore theirs just something about the tool that you still love. One of those tools for me as I have been at Wilders was Rising PC Doctor. Some of you may remember back in 2013 Rising ended it's US/English based support and that message is still on their former website here: http://www.rising-global.com/ but while the English support and Website may be gone it's still possible to download files from Softpedia. So since I had an old PC out today I figured why not give it a shot just for some reminiscence of the old times at Wilders: While it does not look like it's had many product updates since 2013 their Cloud Security Service is still functioning for their on-demand TrojanScanner, The Engine has poor support of .zip files compared to most traditional scanning engines but their cloud scanner was hard at work as I was throwing some new Malware at it: I was a decently impressed by their Cloud Response. I had a few samples that it did not detect the first time around but did detect with a second scan 10 minutes later. I wish I could get more data from them with how they are improving the cloud scanner but unfortunately I don't speak enough Chinese to reach out. It's nice to have this "on-demand cloud anti-trojan" and unfortunate it's spending some time in the grave yard. Maybe it would be better to call it life support instead. I will need to try out some other tools and see what their status is as well.
The download at Softpedia is outdated. You can download the final release of PC Doctor 7, v1.0.2.78 which was released at the end of 2015, from Rising. This was the last version of PC Doctor released before being discontinued. http://rsdownload.rising.com.cn/pcver2011/rsaint/rsaint.exe It's not working so well on Windows 10, as it found security updates for Windows 7.
I always found v5 very good at fetching updates after MS had stopped issuing them due to EOL. The cloud scanner still appears then to have some functionality ? Interesting. I think you were pushing it Roger trying to use it on Win 10 but at least it gave you something Regards Eck
I am really glad this was posted because I downloaded V7 and have run it on two computers. Repair took a while but all is good. Just one question: One of my installs has Chinese in the area on the right while the other is in English. Any idea what I can do to get them both in English? Thanks edit: The English version went back to Chinese so let's just forget it.
Decided to download this again just for a test. The Cloud Server is still online for on-demand scanning. It did decent with the detection of new ransomware I threw at it. No incredible by any means but still decent for an on-demand scanner
