An updated version of jv16 PowerTools X released. The updated version contains the following changes.

• Bug fix: On some systems the program can freeze when clicking to sort the result lists.
• Bug fix: The program can freeze while doing the Initial Setup.
• Bug fix: The program can freeze or crash to “out of memory” while opening the Software Uninstaller.
• Bug fix: My Account feature can incorrectly show an error message “No orders found with these details, only orders relating to an earlier product!” even if no previous orders were found.

We have today released an updated version for jv16 PowerTools X (version

The discussion forum was down for maintenance for a long time due to critical security advisories released for the forum software and also due to lack of resources to moderate the forum. We have also released a statement relating to the crowdfunding campaign we did last year. In short: We promised to convert jv16 PowerTools to an open source software if the campaign reaches its funding target. However, the target was not reached and that is the reason why jv16 PowerTools has not been released as open source. Everyone who contributed to the campaign with specific level contribution are entitled for a free PowerTools X update.

We have today released an updated version for jv16 PowerTools X (version
number: 4.0.0.1480).
The new version addresses two issues that may be affecting you, namely:
* If you are running Windows 8 or newer Windows AND your system has an E disk drive (e.g. "E:\") the Clean and Fix My Computer may display certain types of false positive data. Removal of this data is not critical to the operation of Windows and the bug doesn't affect all users.
* The Startup Optimizer can fail to properly run certain software under specific conditions. If you have tried the PowerTools X and after using it, some software which usually start with your computer no longer start automatically, this bug is probably the reason. This bug fix ensures the software are run again properly during the next system startup.

v16 PowerTools X updated (build 1485)
An updated version of jv16 PowerTools X released, its version number is 4.0.0.1485. The updated version contains the following changes.

• Bug fix: Windows warns about incorrect certificate when starting PowerTools – This is due to the certificate used to sign the program expired, the new version is now signed wit a new certificate.
• Bug fix: The program can crash with Out of Memory error message.
• Bug fix: The Back button in the main user interface isn’t translated. This fix does not require changes to the translation files.
• Bug fix: The Select feature to automatically select all but one of the found duplicate files is missing from the Duplicate File Finder. It’s back now.
• Bug fix: Disabling or Enabling startup items with the Startup Manager can lead to the progress panels to be displayed incorrectly (two panels overlapping each other).
• Bug fix: Program doesn’t always detect real-time anti-virus products that can affect PowerTools’ performance. PowerTools should display warning if such program is detected. The warning should only show at most once a day when PowerTools is started and at most ten times in total.
• Bug fix: When applying a new license with the My Account feature, the program can both show an error message about incorrect license and say a correct license was found.
• Bug fix: The Startup Optimizer can in some specific combinations of installed software make the Windows shutdown slower.
• Bug fix: The Clean and Fix My Computer can reset the Windows user account’s profile picture under some specific cases. If this has happened in your system, simply use the Windows Control Panel’s user account management to set the correct profile pictures.
• Bug fix: Removed reference from the Maintenance Tool to the removed statistics feature.
• Bug fix: In some systems, enabling the password protection made the program no longer start (the password input window never showed up).

An updated version of jv16 PowerTools X released, its version number is 4.0.0.1487. The updated version contains the following changes.

• Bug fix: The Clean and Fix My Computer feature can in specific, very rare cases remove data that causes Windows to display an error message about “C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable”. The bug causing this error is now fixed. If your system has been affected by this issue, please contact our technical support and we will help you to fix your system.
• Bug fix: The backup feature can fail to correctly backup specific type of registry data. The problem has now been fixed and running the PowerTools X in a way it creates a new backup (For example, if you run the Clean and Fix My Computer and let it create a backup), it automatically fixes all old backup files it finds with the incorrect data inside them.
• Bug fix: Using the Backup Tool’s Custom Restore Backup feature with backups containing backed up files can cause the program to show error message List Item Out Of Bounds.
• Bug fix: Clicking a registry path from the Clean And Fix My Computer’s top panel doesn’t always open RegEdit because the entry name or value is incorrectly interpreted to be part of the registry path.
• Bug fix: The About window can in some cases be shown with an incorrect dimensions, making it impossible to read the product’s version number from the bottom right corner of the window.
• Bug fix: Registry key abbreviation feature isn’t working in the Registry Finder.
• Bug fix: Adding Registry Cleaner shortcut to desktop from the Windows Integration tab in the Settings tool does not work.
• Improvement: If user chooses the List Files or List Registry Entries from the Backup Tool for a backup file that contains no files or registry entries, the program now shows a message saying no data found. Before, the program wouldn’t display anything.
• Improvement: The File Cleaner / Clean and Fix My Computer can now better detect and skip directories that contain file collections (such as movie collections or photo galleries), which improves both the speed of the scan but also adds another layer of protection against listing any files from such folders as temporary files.

• Bug fix: The Clean and Fix My Computer can freeze and never finish if scanning the registry with the one notch more aggressive scan option.

New jv16 PowerTools X – Version 4.0.0.1499
An updated version of jv16 PowerTools X has been released. The updated version contains the following changes:
New Features

• New feature:Auto Update– if enabled, the program will automatically download and install updates to the program, translation(s) and the handbook (if installed). The updates happen with no action needed from the user, the user will be notified after any file has been updated.

Please note that this will most likely be the last time you will have to manually setup jv16 PowerTools X on your current operating system. Updates will from now on be delivered to your system automatically (once the latest, current version 4.0.0.1499 is downloaded and installed) and any bug fixes and improvements published alongside these updates will be reported to you via e-mail during our weekly updates session. Our full focus goes to making sure you benefit from some of the best PC Optimization features on the market today, with the least amount of effort.

If your jv16 PowerTools installed copy is not currently activated, the Find My License tool will be visible under My Account. This tool helps you to quickly identify all your historical product licenses and check your current license validity status yourself at any time.

If your copy of jv16 PowerTools was already activated, the Find My License tool will not be accessible. Bug Fixes

• Fix: The Clean and SpeedUp My Computer or Initial Setup may take a very long time to complete, or does not complete at all.
• Fix: Uninstalling certain software with the Software Uninstaller can make jv16 PowerTools to display “not responding” text in its window caption (this is a cosmetic issue only, and does not affect the actual uninstallation process.)
• Fix: Uninstalling a software can cause a log file to be created at user’s home directory, instead of jv16 PowerTools installation directory.
• Fix: If uninstalling jv16 PowerTools, the software’s background process (jv16pt_PreWorker2.exe) could remain running in the background and therefore not deleted during the uninstallation.
• Fix: Uninstalling certain software can make the system to reboot, as jv16 PowerTools fails to select the “manually reboot later” option from the software’s uninstaller.
