I've written a short guide explaining how to hide or show specific updates in Windows 10 using the official standalone troubleshooter package. Take a look. https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/windows-10-show-hide-updates.html Cheers, Mrk
I know this about 3+ years, does it really till now works and does the job? I mean in current version, ie in Windows 1803.
I've found that after a while, hidden updates get shown again. For example, on two of my computers I get offered a Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 Update for Windows Vista. I've got no idea why, considering I'm running Windows 10. Understandably, the update fails to install. However, if I hide the update, before too long it is offered again. I've run some uninstall tools for VS 2005 from Microsoft, in an attempt to stop the update being offered, but they find nothing to cleanup.
The Windows & drivers updates blocking tool from Microsoft is named "Show or hide updates" and it is distributed as troubleshooting application. You can find the official support page and download link here: How to temporarily prevent a Windows or driver update from reinstalling in Windows 10. The tool is a small executable file of only 45.5KB, named wushowhide.diagcab. If you really want to disable Windows 10 update, there are tricks.
